Best Billiard Balls

My fraternal club has been playing with the same set of Centennials for over 30 years. I've been looking at replacing them. I see good reviews on Dynasphere Bronze and they are priced around $125. The top of their line is over $300. So what are you paying extra for?

I think they use the same mixture of phenolic in all their balls, so I think the difference between their top of the line and the bronze is basically the detail in the different numbers or colors on the ball. That takes a lot of extra effort to manufacture.

Been playing with my Bronze set for a while now, and almost hate to admit it, but the Czar was right.

If you are in the market for a new set, these are an incredible deal.
Whatever. I'll take that as a compliment. I think. ;)

The other difference is that the Platinum set includes two measles cue balls pictured earlier in the thread and two template racks.

I have always liked the classic look of the Centenials. That's what I had with the table that I had to sell when I moved years ago. Now I will have a room ready this summer for the Gold Crown IV I bought from a friend and the Centenials came with it. I did buy a set of the Dynasphere Bronze and they just arrived. Pictures are attached for comparison. Of course the Centenials need a good cleaning.

Clearly the Cent's are THE classic design of all time. The Dyna Bronze is a great ball at a steal of a price. Dyna makes a set very similar to Cent's, the Rhodium, only big difference is the color of the 6-14balls. https://www.dynaspheres.com/pool_balls/pool-rhodium/ They run about 350bux.

The Rhodiums have been the ball of choice on my table. I got them for $225 shipped about a year ago. They play great, look great, and stay clean for quite a while. I also have a Bronze set that I scored for $90 shipped as part of a group buy.

If only they hadn't felt obligated to screw with the colors of the 6/7/14/15…

But at least the 5-ball is orange… 😁

And I agree, you just can't beat the Centennials!

You are paying extra for the extra inlays in the numbers/stripes, etc. The balls are exactly the same in quality and tolerance. I'd personally get the cheapest set that looked good "to you". I actually have the even cheaper set with fewer inlays, the Tungsten set, and love it. It was only $70 shipped when I got it, but I think its higher now.

Great advice, I bought a set of Tungsten for $45 when they first came out. They have been bulletproof. I have since up-graded to Bronze and could not be happier. It’s been years since I have pulled out the Centennials or the Super Pros.
