I hear you are in that group.

These prices are estimates of custom playing cues and do not include sneaky petes.

Good value cues, best deals, quality cuemakers, I would have to say:

Blackheart (!) - (four pointer from about $500)
Wayne (4 Pointer from about $450)
Dale Perry (4 pointer from about $400)
Olivier (4 pointer from about $600)
Jacoby (4 pointer from about $550)
Espiritu (4 pointer from about $500)
Raven (4 point cue - $479)
Steve Klein (4 point cue from about $400)
Sherm (4 pointer from about $500)

There are too many good cuemakers out there!

The best value cuemaker IMO is Andy Gilbert. Jerry Olivier also makes a great playing cue for the $$$. As far as newer makers, Travis Niklich (Blackcreek Cues) makes a very nice cue. I have not owned one, but have seen several of his cues and have also hit a couple. He does excellent work and his cues play well also.

I do not believe I have ever seen one of your cues JER.

I just ordered a John Madden, so that was a great deal in and of itself... It should be here in a few weeks.

Based on your posts, Blackheart, I've looked at your work, and if I can get a 4-pointer from $450ish, I'll have one by the end of this year. Your website has a lot of good pics on it, but I'd like to see some more of your work!!

I honestly think that Dale Perry ruined his price/value of cues by selling them directly on ebay.

Well Jerry I'd say you.
Oliver
Some omen cues
Dzuricky (have one, love it...$240 for a very nice sneaky)
Schon ( I think this may be the best hitting production cue out there)
Some of Scruggs cues
Most of the production cues Joss, Lucasi are two that come to mind that hit decent.
Prathers
Jacobys
BCM (though price is going up)

Custom is becomming a misnomer as well, think it may be more of a large amount of production over a small amount. Many of the "custom" cue makers have series of cues they make, which to me says prodcution cue maker.

I think there are some deals out there for good hitting cues, but its getting harder. Pool isn't the only area where prices are getting higher. Fishing is the same way, reels and rods used to be 100-150 for high end, now its 200-300 for high end. Some things even more. Boats are way over priced, as are cars and trucks.

Just my sleepy stayed out to late thoughts.....

I have seen some of Blackcreek's cues and they ARE fantastic looking and feeling, but have yet to shoot with one. I like about 20 minutes from Travis Niklich and am going to his shop on Tuesday. I'll post what I like/dislike!

Thanks,
Zim

Hercek is very reasonably priced its the aftermarket that inflates his prices.

I have to throw my vote in for Skip Weston. The workmanship you get in your cue for the money is fantastic! I'm in the process of custom ordering another cue from him that I designed!

Dominiak, DZ cues, Espiritu, Prather and Jacoby are my top choices for the money!

Zim

Mike Webb, Jack Madden, Viattorre, Bob Dzuricky, Andy Gilbert, Dave Jacoby, Sherm Adamson.

knowledge goes a long way. if you know what to look for in a cue, you can get a very good one because today's tools and technology has eliminated really bad cues, and has made the playing field very level for the vast majority of cuemakers. there's no REALLY BAD cuemaker out there...(except for maybe ONE terrible cuemaker who thinks he knows a lot, whose name is known by many, but not necessarily as a cuemaker, and no one realizes he makes cues because his cues are so bad, nobody wants them,,,even for free, which is funny because he's known somewhat as an expert. wonder who it is? :):):)...no one on this board, btw)

you only have to know what you want, what to look for in a cuemaker's handiwork, how to pick your shaftwood,,,and somehow determine that the cuemaker has integrity and does due diligence.

Do you mean best buys as in a new cue direct from a cuemaker?

Hard call for me cause I don't buy alot of less expensive cues.. :)

Joe (--although we will be looking into adding a few cuemakers to the fold.. Madden, Coker are looking good right now...

Top Five

My number 1 without a doubt would be Coker. It would be very hard to beat the hit and feel of one in it's price range, especially in the used marketplace IMO.

The rest aren't as easy to pick, but these four would be my picks, granted at a little higher price level, but still excellent values for the money you spend.

Skip Weston
Andy Gilbert
Mike Bender

About 2 grand. Everything's relative. For us Trojans that's cheap!

go Trojans!!!

not sure how popular they are with people on this board, but parrot cues out of richmond virginia are very very competively priced.

What about Sheldon Lebow's cues? They hit a ton and are very reasonably priced. I also like Ned Morris & Rick Howard cues alot.
