I am looking to find out who you all think puts the best finish or clear coat on a cue. Any information would be appreciated. I am looking for the most durable finish I can find, and who is good at applying it?

UV gets my vote, and the guys at World Class put that finish on a cue second to none!

How much would they charge to refinish a cue? Or do you have a clue?

You got contact info on World Class?

try asking this question in the "Ask The Cuemaker" section :)

I asked it here cause I want player's opinions! Then I will seek out the cue maker! LOL

A refinish done right needs a re wrap as well, and it gets expensive. Here is their number 731-424-4455.

I have drug a SouthWest to most every bar in the western US over the past 16 years and never abused it but damn sure never babied it either and it has a few dings but not a single flaw in the finish. I have gone through 2 shafts and probably 8 wraps. I'm sure it would be spendy getting SW to finish a cue but worth it. I have made cues as well and we used Imron with a flex additive and our cues were respected for their finish but they were not a SW.

The best bang for your buck in refinish clear coat is by Mike Webb. He really does a superb job and takes great pride in his finish quality

LOL - I told him the same...

When I lived on the east coast I used PFD for my refinishes. He does a great refinish. I also just had ratcues do a cue that I am very happy with.

Travis Niklish - Blackcreek cues

I can't speak for the durability as I have never owned one of his cues as of yet. I can tell you that his finish is probably the best looking in the business.
Maybe someone can provide details on the durability. His finished cues look like they would be wet as they are very shiny and nice.

Mike Gulyassy is putting a new special coating on a shaft that I am having made for my Bender Pow-Mia cue. It is supposed to be a protective coating and when the finish is applied I will not need to use a glove or powder. We'll see. I'll give a report when it is completed. Others have claimed it is a very smooth and protective finish....

sorry this is just for coating the shaft, not the whole cue. My bad...

A "major" collector and I were discussing to refinish or not to refinish, depends on the cue, but to the question at hand, the collector told me that if he wanted any cue refinished, he and a few others send there cue's to Bryan Mordt-BCM cues. Must say every bcm I've seen have been tops when it comes to finish.

And i second that. I wont go so far as to say that Bryan's finish work is THE best (Not sure any cue maker can make that claim this side of seeing every cue on earth) but I will say that I personally haven't seen a finish on a cue that looked BETTER then bryan's.

I actually built cues with Eric Niemira who shares a shop with Mordt or at least did the last time I seen them and Eric was very critical and good at finishing a cue I am certain that him and Mordt have shared ideas on finishing cues. I don't know if Mordt uses the same finish as Eric did if so it is very nice and very durable, however not as tough as what I've seen an a SouthWest.

I am impresed with the finish from Bob Frey. I have had two of his cues and they were very well done!

I agree, Mike does sensational work.

Does anybody know if Mike is still doing repair and refinish work? I was trying to refer a repair to him but wanted to check with him first. His e-mail on the web site wasn't working and no answer on his phone. I think he mentioned to me a few months ago he wasn't taking repair work...

By the way, my finishes from Scot Sherbine have always been 1st class.
