BEST cue maker who worked with you every step of the way

Joey Bautista, Bob Dzuricky, Mason H, and Chad Carter on a repair. Evan Clarke at schon, and Tim Scruggs are also easy to work with.

Right now, Steve Klein is building a cue for me. Steve frequently sends me pictures to show me how things are progressing. He is pretty quick to reply back to my emails if I have a question, and seems to be someone not afflicted with the dreaded "cuemaker time."

I'd appreciate having this same question answered with a slight change....

I'ts not hard to imagine a cuemaker being very communicative, accomodating, etc. if a customer is ordering a $2,500.00 cue from them, or they are a great customer and ordering their 4th cue from them....But, does everyone's opinion of these cuemakers still hold, if the cuemaker is building a $600.00 plain jane for a stranger ?

Thanks, Ghost

ask Billy Jones

Number one for me is Tim Scruggs.

He and Mike are "straight up" guys. Especially when they have to repair the fXXk ups I cause.

Superglue in shaft threads....been there.

Bob Dzuricky and Chad Carter on my list I was a complete stranger with both of them. Got outstanding service. Tim Scruggs and Evan Clarke as well do not know me. None of those cues or repairs were on expensive cues.

I'm getting tired of all the "who is the worse cue maker" threads. Lets face it, cue makers are people too, and maybe they were having the worse day they've had in a year the day you spoke with them. And lets not forget about the hundred of calls that come in everyday by people who want answers to this or that, but then never buy a thing. The only time i feel a cue maker should get a bad rep is if they build a bad cue and then not stand behind their work.

Here are a few of the cue makers i've purchased cues from and were great!!

1. PFD - Paul Drexler has been great to work with. I've changed the design like a hundred times and he has made them all. He also was nice enough to invite me into his home.

2. BCM - Bryan has done everything i asked. And he's stood by is work like a champ. Simple one of the best.

3. McDaniel - Bill McDaniel was great. The cue he made for me was custom and done 100%.

Lets give props to them instead of knocking them. I'm sure you're not the best to talk with each and everyday either.

Lane Simons of Simons Cues http://www.simonscues.com Work with me every step of the way. Took my design and also saw how I wanted my cue to perform from watching another guy who was getting a lot of action on his cb when he shot. He delivered right on time to the day!!!! Sent me pictures of my cue in progress. Which are to large to upload here.

So far in my limited yet growing experience it has been:

Judd Fuller
Paul Mottey
Jerry Rauenzahn
Murray Tucker

(in no particular order)

Alex Brick & David Jacoby are both great Cuemakers who LISTEN to the Customer and follow directions without exercising "artistic license" ...

It doesn't matter whether it is an 8pt custom or a simple reshape of a LePro tip. Mike Webb always gives $1.50 value on a $1.00 spent.

I'd have to say that my experience with Richard Black was outstanding. I got a great personal tour of his shop, got to hold and drool over cues that were half my salary, and he built exactly the cue I wanted and delivered the cue on time 5 months later. I loved what he said as I left after ordering "I'll build you the best cue I've ever made." With the flat face Ivory joint and fat pin it hit soooo sweet!

Also have to give props to Laurie Franklin who seems like family after 8 years of one or two calls per year to check up and let her know my new address and contact info. This ones my player for the next 20 years!

Limited Experience.

With my limited experience;

BIG NAME: John Davis, great value plus tradition, stands behind his product, and super nice guy. Barbara is a beautiful person, but be warned, you will need a half an hour avaliable if you get into a conversation.

UNDER THE RADAR: Myron Yoshizawa, I see him often, and consider him my second dad. That coupled with superior workmanship; equals, under rated value.
