Best food you've ever had at a pool hall?

I have to say Raxx pool room in hempstead NY they have a lot of the predator tour stops there.

Holden Chin once told me about a dish they dont have on the menu but u can ask for. Its a spicy asian noodle dish with chicken and a spicy terryaki broth. OMG ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

They have awesome bar foods as well, wings, chicken tender, potato skins all deliscious.

Best burger I ever had any where was at Power house Billiards in st.louis in 91. Don't know if they are still open ?

Bakers Billiards in Tampa hadda strong kitchen for yrs when the owners wife had her apron on. Hollywood Billiards in Florida has home cooking goin on in their kitchen. Nothin' strange about gettin stuffed cabbage one day and T-bone the next...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hollywood billiards(FL)-If you don't mind having the cook and waitress cooking and serving your food with a cigarette in their hand or mouth. Maybe I should mention this to Margie when I get home-but that's what has stopped me from eating there. Good food though before this started.

Once upon a time...... Mother's in Charlotte. In it's early years we would stay around there for months at a time and always enjoyed their food.

Also.... the Mexican food at Romine's from years past was OOOHHHHHH so good!

Last, and my BEST...... when they had McDermott tournaments or other large events, The Break - in Cahokia, IL (near St Louis) cooked these AWESOME RIBEYE STEAKS! Terry Heulsman cooked them out back on the grill and I'm here to tell you that if you were trying to play a match when they were cooking, you would get the worst case of "stomach sharking" that you could ever have! They were simply hands down the best ribeye I've ever had.

Gosh, now I've made myself hungry....... I'll be back - I'm going to eat.

I agree Mothers had great food.

What's your problem???? You put "NPR!!" on the friggin Keychain link as well!! Slow your role! I once POLITELY tried to suggest someone put an NPR related issue on the NPR forum and got red repped by someone who said "Be a moderator if you want to tell people what to do"...Let the mods decide what stays and what goes.

EDIT: I noticed you put "NPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!" on the last 5 threads you've posted to...what is your deal? Did someone Hustle you outta all your money last night????

Nits don't lose any money.

Diamond's Billiards in Brea CA --- not the best food I have ever had --- but pretty damn good for a pool hall!

House speciality fried rice (with bits of chicken, shrimp, and beef) and teriyaki chicken aren't bad at all!

Metro Sports Bar-Phoenix before Becky left runnig the kitchen, she and her hubby did awesome food. BECKY I miss you, and your great food.

We just added some terrific baby back ribs. Spicey and tender. Thanks CharlesUFarley for the accolades. We really work to make our food good.

We were also hilighted in the Register for our wings, tender and juicey.

I don't know if this is off topic or not, but I'm interested to know what the best meals at a pool hall you've had are and where you had them!

I once saw a show on Food Network that had a bowling alley with really great organic gourmet meals that were pretty imaginative. I think this would be great at a pool hall as well!

I've never had a meal any better than McDonald's (and a lot that are way worse) at a pool hall.

Mothers Billiards in Charlotte, N.C. had some good food. They are closed now unfortunately.

Thanks for the memories. I have been to the majority of all the places mentioned. Can't really remember having any bad food at any of them.

Romines in Milwaukee was always a great spot. Chattanooga Billiard Club was always great. Magoos in Tulsa was a favorite.

A few stood out in my memory of 15 years on the road. Gators in Virginia had a real chef, who kept trying to take my steak away because I used a knife to cut it, instead of my fork, (he said it was a tenderness issue), but I finally made him leave me alone.

Hot Shots in Panama City had the best pizza hands down, Red Rose pizza prepared by Michaelene. She had breakfast pizza, bacon, eggs, sausage , etc. really good. But for dinner, she prepared me a seafood pizza, complete with lobster, shrimp, scallops, and some unbelivable cheeses. The absolute nuts.

For home cooking style menus, Pockets in Dothan, AL had blue plate specials everyday that were beyond awesome for someone away from home. I knew I was in heaven when I walked in the door, and meatloaf and mashed potatoes were on the blackboard.

Great munchies at JOB's, Mr Cues, Starchers, Starcade, and many many others that I cannot remember right now.

While I was traveling, I would always try to search out all the BBQ spots, and I think a thread on the best BBQ locations is needed.

Lots of good spots over the years, but most recently I really liked King St. Billiards in Fayettesvile. Good food at good prices! The cajun crawfish was the nuts. Q Master in Norfolk also has great food all across the menu.

Q Masters in Chesapeake VA has the famous Barry Burger and it's very good, especially for $5.

The Side Pocket in Richmond has home cooked specials for lunch every week day that are pretty strong. Home made soups almost every day, pasta on Wednesday and meatloaf is the special every Thursday. There is usually a large crowd of non-players in there at lunch because the food is that good.

Brian in VA

When I first started playing, I used to drive up to a tournament at Hall of Fame in Elk Grove Village on tuesday nights. John Abbruzzo was the owner. They had a little restaurant up front that had THE best Chicken Caesar Salad. I would go up early and play Larry Schwartz a race to five for the check. Unfortunately for me, Larry played awfully hard for food.:frown:

Special mention for the mexican food at Romines'.

Break Away Billiards in Newport News, VA has the best buffalo chicken sandwich that I have ever had! But don't go there if you like regulation tables, because they only have 4!! The other 16 tables are all bar boxes.

Q-masters in Virginia Beach, VA has excellent food from top to bottom. Not to mention a great atmosphere to play in.

Shooters in Olathe and Magoo's in Tulsa quickly come to mind. The other place has closed - Lambert's place in Baton Rouge was awesome.
