Best hitting cue you ever played with.

Full splice John Davis blank, finished by Alex Brick, with an (Royce Bunnell) OB Classic shaft. Within months of being finished, all 3 passed away and now I can't get anyone to put a tip on it. It hits better than any cue I have shot with including my original Gus Szamboti, Meucci, Dufferin, etc.

I remember a road player (mid 60’s when I was in college) telling me that I need to know two things about playing on the road.

1. You need to be able to take a house cue off the rack and gamble.

2. A good tip on a house cue is more important than anything else.
Yes to this. I always carried a small pack of sandpaper. Once I chose a war club I would walk into the men's room and sit on the john and do a little bit of tip work.. Did that for years and no one ever knew...

I have enjoyed all my cues. Started with a house cue in 1964-68 during high school. College and work took 20 years. In mid 80's Meucci, then Schon, then Josey. Really felt good about Schon and Josey.
Currently I am always going back to a Lambros I got about a year ago. So Lambros is currently my favorite. Surprised
it has not already been mentioned.

One more piece of advice. Before playing in a dive bar or road house go into the men’s restroom and make sure there is a window that you can open and crawl out of if the crowd your robbing on the bar table is getting hostile towards you.

Ok, here are the rules. Hit is subjective, we all know that. But let's try anyway to compile a list of cues that we think are GREAT playing cues.

The only rule is one vote per person. So think about it and pick the one cue out of all the cues you have been able to shoot with that you would keep if you could only have one of them for the rest of your life.

Now of course you can put in a name of a cue you have never shot with just because you desire to own it and have heard it's a great playing cue but I hope that you will stick with cues that you actually had time to hit balls with for enough time to really get to know the cue.

I will start, and this is a very tough decision for me because I have owned so many great cues. Keep in mind that just because a brand is someone's #1 choice the number 2 might be real close.

But the object here is to see what sort of list we can come up with if you can only have one. I will update this post with a running list and vote count if it gets any traction. Sometime in the future I will tally the votes by brand even though there may be different "eras" and butt/shaft combinations.

My #1 pick is Jensen.

If I missed any let me know.
My Mobley is as good a cue as I’ve ever hit.

ignite shaft on any butt
close second, cynergy shaft on any butt

anything carbon is light years beyond wood, hit, feel, and performance

I had this old Hubler (with a Duffrin logo as well) ..... sold it on here to a member a loooong time ago.... I miss that one most.
Old school (I think late 80s or early 90s) and it hit a ton.

To this point an ivory jointed/ferrule Tim Scruggs. But, I'm hoping my PFD I have on order plays better.
If it helps, the Drexler I ordered in 2017 and received in 2019 is without a doubt the best hitting cue in my case.

Many pages and years ago, I said it was a Capone I once tried in a Tokyo pro shop. It's now tied with a Huebler.

Never thought I’d say this, but I bought a 60” Diveney sneaky with his standard maple shafts just to see if I’d like a longer cue. That was 4 years ago now and I haven’t put it down yet. Might be time to have him build a custom for me.
