Best Hitting Cues Survey - Please Reply

Damn,

I was seriously suprised to see that maybe 6 or 7 people voted for Gilbert.

Expecially for how his cues are wanted buy many people and how they always keep thier value too.

I think Gilbert has one of the sweetest hitting cues around. I've played with several custom cues, and Gilbert and Bludworth to me have the best hit around.

I also like the way Schons hit, it's nice to know that thier rock bottom STL1 cue and thier expensive LTD's and unique's all hit/play the same.

Solid picks right there....:)

On a side note, I actually hit with two different Cokers at DCC this past weekend...one was an ebony on ebony and the other 4 bocote points on birdseye...

I wasn't impressed. :(

Which was sad, because I actually LOVED the way that bocote points on bem Coker looked...I was ready to snatch it, but...it just felt "dull."

To each his own though! My old man helped me purchase a SW for my birthday -- good stuff.

The one I sold last night

I recently picked up one of Cory Harper's former Carmeli cues. Well I was taking it for a test spin last night and had a customer, (that had waited on a previous cue I was selling), ask what I had.

Damn if 3 balls later he was the proud new owner of an A. Carmeli cocoblo beauty... That thing was an auto pilot machine... now I am looking to replace it...

Any suggestions????

Joe

1.- Barry Szamboti - Hits like a loaded freight train with unreal playability. Without a doubt #1 (IMHAZBO)

2.- Gus Szamboti - hit with probably a dozen of them. Steel joints, Ivory joints, Four points, Eight Points and I can only dream of owning one someday - Solid, Solid, Solid

3.- BalaBodi (yes they do exist) - Played Very nice and the mystique added to the playability. :)

4.- Tad (Hawaiian Brian's Cue) finish was gone and it had seen A LOT of play. It was 60" (I think) and it played lights out.

5.- Runde Schon ( I really miss that queue)

6.- An old straight one piece house cue with a decent tip. yes I am serious!

well.... I gotta say this... a great cue with a bad tip or a bad balance, SUCKs.

However a bad cue, with a good tip, isn't any better.

I think the scenario is about a good feeling cue, that has balance, a good shaft & a good tip...

Huebler, pre 2004 or so. 'Lower-class' than the high-end customs on this list, but they hit great.

Tad. If only I could afford one!

Padgett.

Gilbert.

Ariel Carmeli.

And believe it or not, an old Meucci sneaky pete from an era when they made quality products.
MY dad played with an old Meucci Hustler (sneaky pete) for a LONG time. That was a heckuva stick. Not sure what year it was from, but he played it throughout the 80's (maybe late 70's, early 80's???). He met Ray Schuler at a couple of tournaments, and Ray finally talked pops into a custom. I have never gotten my hands on his Schuler, but after he got it, I got to use the Meucci quite a bit. :) That remeinds me...I gotta stop by and take it out for another test drive to compare against my cue. He probably still won't let me try the Schuler though. :(

"Best" is in the eyes of the beholder and we all love the hit of the cues we own (as it should be!)

1) Barenbrugge ***
2) Jensen w/Buzz Ring
3) SW (Pau Ferro, Goncalo Alves & Rosewood)
4) Howard (I sold an Ebony Howard 2 years ago and should be shot:o )
5) Hercek
6) LeBow ** (Tried to sell one a while back, couldn't sell it and glad I couldn't !)
7) Olney

** Hits unbelievably smooth.
*** An "unworldy" hit at an "unworldy" price but probably worth it.
That ebony Rick Howard played great. I should have bought it from you when I had the chance.:(

Searing
Capone
Richard BLack
Hercek
