Many cuemakers making a cue that hits good (tip will matter here), but if the balance is not right, I don't want it. You can adjust the hit some with the type of tip you have, but you can not adjust the balance easily without going back to the cuemaker, and even then, there is no guarantee that it will end up with the 'right feel' to it.
The balance comes into play on different type of shots, long shots, spin shots, power stun shots, close light shots. If you cue is not balanced right, your results from some of these shots will be erratic,and not consistent, or always consistently off. Tips are a little like that too. Maybe a tip is good for 90% of your shots, and not for 10% of your shots, but that 10% is what loses you your matches and your cash.
