Harold you have to at least have placed in a tournament to be ranked... just showing up doesn't count.

Just wondering, I see your list is posted in order ... if a player listed below another player gambles and I want to take your lower ranked guy .... Do I have action?

Ha good one....Yeah but I already know who your going to take....I may need to handicapping and mind reading than playing with these road hustlers.

Let me look over the list and guess...mmmm

You like TO! playing tater tot.....???

You give me two players from Al and ill give you the correct handicap.. Maybe i wont knock none of them considering all of them know how everyone on the list knows how everybody plays already.I know you will put one in the box....Pick you any of the listed players and ill match up with them. If I somehow how win the 500 dollar bet and you still dont think its gambling then ill flip you a coin for it...OLOL

I think any short set is gambling. My only disagreement was Tater being number above a couple of them. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't seen Tedder play since I moved ...

edited: to not knock the three guys I put as favorite.

I've actually been thinking about kind of hitting the road(not as in I'm a roadplayer, more as in a pool vacation) in a few weeks. Where would be the places to go in AL to find action, with the exception of Birmingham, and Mobile,as I have played a bit there before, and looking for something new. And before anyone asks, I'm an idiot;) .Thanks for the input!

Check out the Pioneer Lounge in Glencoe Alabama. Roscoe loves action and you can find it most any weekend.

Roscoe was a nit every time I went in and I lived in the area and visited 40+ times. I never once saw him put one dollar in action. Just my recommendation but don't waste your time trying to get him to bet.

The only regular action in the Pioneer is a $1 3 ball ring game. A local Asian guy named Jared plays fair and will bet but is not in town often. He and the guy that used to run the pool room in Gadsden lost $800 to us one night.

Two guys were there and woofed and woofed about Steve (thanks Craig) Downey playing for whatever amount the next day since he was drinking already that night ... next night, no action of course.

I think you may be talking about Steve Downey. Or there use to be a guy there by that name Roscoe use to like to bet on him, but we never could get anything out of the Pioneer either.

If I rank in the top 10, we are in trouble. If I have a guy not on the ranking that will play all of us on the CURRENT list except Henny and Scotty, can we get action?

Matt

Shoot me an PM. Who you talking? Crab?

I looked at the list and unless alabama has changed alot theres quite a few missing off the list.
Thats always been the issue with Alabama. Somewhere out in the middle of no where you run into a guy that plays jam up.

Interesting thread though as I know Jerry Lin. He knows I am from Alabama and has never once mentioned anything about B'ham. Trying to trap me maybe??
I maybe on my way back in about 6 months. If so tell number 99 on the list that I want a shot at the top 100!! :D

pool players... huh

There are two players in Tuscaloosa that play pretty well. Harold MacAbee (Smackmac) and a player to remain nameless that is not Roy. Marshall "Squirrel" Carpenter can be found there sometimes and out own merkyone Scotty Waters just moved to Birmingham from Tuscaloosa (No offense to them, but none of these guys play well enough to be considered best in AL).

i'm nowhere near the top. but any that are really from the state of alabama and have held the same job more than the last 5 years can get played... PERIOD.

sincerely,

always the other scotty.

Glad to know you are scared of me. Nice post Scotty, but I can count on one hand the number of people I know in Alabama that have had the same job for five years ... much less a pool player.

By the way, I noticed a couple of names that need to be added. Will/Mobile and
Denny S from Dothan. Also Charlie from Montgomery. And Harold, I am pretty sure I need the eight. You stay in action, and I haven't gambled in about a year, lol.

...

there were more than a few missing... what about marcus from auburn, GA there are a couple more around montgomery (youngblood and tall asian fellow), randy jordan and his brother who at least works in lanett... joseph cole and jason hill here in bham... the older guy who was beating everybody in mobile till he quit a couple years ago had a nickname he went by... if we gonna knock everybody lets knock everybody

i'm sure theres a few around phenix city or northeast and northwest alabama

Geez, let's just tell them where they can look up everyone's APA handicaps while we are at it. This is my home state and it is the worst knocking thread I have ever seen.

BTW I can't beat the three ball ghost or six ball-shoot-any-ball so there's the line on me while we are at it.

About 6/7 weeks ago Hennesy left there with about 4 to 5 grand of Roscoes money. He matched up with 2 or three different players is my understanding..........Roscoe has offered to stake John Schmidt to play Hennesey even on a bar table at his place.

Maybe things have changed?

Was the other player Jerry Lin? A buddy of mine attending UAB something like 20 years ago talked about that guy's ability being astounding. He recalled one story to me, where Jerry was trying to get up a game offering sizeable weight to this lesser player. The final offer was Jerry playing one handed, offhanded, jacked up. The other guy still declined.

UPDATE!

I spoke to my friend about the above match. I was wrong about the lesser player declining, he actually did agree to the incredible handicap Jerry offered. And in my buddy's words, "Jerry wore the guy's ass out".
