Best playing cue under $2500

Post what your intetersted in, you'll find that 25 hun+- talks pretty loud:)

Not really come up with the decision, but can I get info from Bender, Tad, Gina, and maybe Scruggs since I emailed him long time ago and did not receive the reply yet.

I have heard a lot of things about Bluegrass cues and that they play well? I like a real stiff hitting cue. Thanks for the input, keep it coming. thanks, clint

I heard he stopped taking new order since 2005. Not sure how can we get n new one w/o being in the waiting list.

or......... You could buy a nice 1500 dollar cue and use the balance for lessons. Because in reality, it's the Indian and not the arrow. Good lessons never hurt anybody.

JV (---just thinking out of the box...

Ariel Carmeli
McDaniel
Or anything with a Predator shaft on it.....

You will get a lot of input here. Names like Scruggs Searing Capone are just a few to start. IMO you need to hit with a cue to see if you like it. Unless you have a lot of money to burn, $2500 is a big investment. You want to make sure you really like it.

If you can wait and get to Valley Forge, go there and try as many cues as you like. You may try a cue from one cue maker that stands out. But, if you then have that maker make you a cue, you may find that the new cue doesn't feel exactly the same.

Go to VF and try them all. There will be just about every cue you see mentioned here. Get there early. Thursday if possible. Top cues go fast. Some top makers keep cues they have sold on display to be picked up later, so other people can see what can be made. This means you will have to order a new one.

Good luck.

I have had a Capone once and it was really, really close to my current Mottey. If you are not looking at resale value, get a Capone, they are dirt cheap on the secondary market (unfortunately!), yet his cues should be up with others.

If you are looking to get closer to your limit I'd recommend a Mottey or if you want to order right now and get the cue within a year, contact James White.

Sugartree's are yet again distinctive in design and appearance but they play really good and for 2.5k you can get a really, really beautiful one.

This is a discussion, like "who makes the best car/truck/boat/engine". There is an ass for every seat, and everyone has an opinion. You need to hit some balls with as many cues as you can. Even with that, all of a particular cue maker's cues don't play the same. If it is possible, test drive it first. $2500 is a lot of coin to drop on something that you have never played with.

I'm looking in to buying a permanent playing cue and would like to have some opinions on the best hitting cues. Thanks, clint

So what do you want this Cue to do, as IMHO the Cue will pretty much do nothing to make you an "A" Player, unless you are already an "A" Player.

Are you looking for an INVESTMENT?

Or are you just looking for a GREAT Playing Cue, if you are looking for a GREAT Playing Cue, you NEED NOT spend $2,500.00!!! IMHO

So now the time has come for you too reply. FYI Efren Reyes played for years, real well with a $15.00 BUCK Q....

Now he, and other Pro Pool Players play with a particular Cue because people GIVE THEM GREEN to play with THEIR Cue, or they use a Case CASE because he gets it for FREE!!!!

For $2500, you pretty much get almost anything you want. I can personally attest to Schon, Scruggs, Blackcreek, Capone, Richard Black, Jim Reeves, and Tascarella as fine cues. I've also heard great things about SouthWest, Dave Kikel, & Ariel Carmelli.

So many great cues mentioned. I have, or had, or played with many of them and they all have their strong points and I like many of them (have a sugertree on order). One cuemaker not mentioned but should be is Cory Barnhart. I am really liking them right now and have 3 of them. Very solid hit w/a lot of feel and his fit and finish is as good as anyone's. Cory is truly one of the up and coming soon to be top tier cue maker.

I would suggest you try to find a few of the cues locally and take them out for a test drive so you can learn what you like in a cue before making the investment. Do you like flat-face big pin, stainless piloted, phenolic piloted, etc - do you know the weight you like?

Have fun and good luck with your selection.

Dave

Completely subjective but what the heck, I'll throw in my $.02.

The best hitting cues I have ever played with are:

Mike Webb - own 2
Joel Hercek
James White
Jerry Rauenzahn - own 1

Like I said, completely subjective but these are my favorites.

For $2500.00 you can get a cue from most anyone you want. I havent had a dud from any of the half dozen builders that have made me a cue. I have yet to hit either a Gina, or Lambros but they are spoken highly of. One thing I would do for that type of money and this is no disrespect to any of the many quality makers here. Id get a cue by one of the established names. I am not saying that they are any better but do some research in the treads and see what cues seem to retain value.

Thanks

thanks for the input I am just looking at my options. I am in no big hurry but am looking for a nice looking consistent player.

I have a jacoby cue, not close to $2500 and it hits great! I see some of their cues around the $2000 mark, but they never get mentioned on these threads. Do they hit poorly compared to these other cues?

For me, they were great to deal with, made a great cue at a great price. In the pool world that combination is the closest thing to perfection.
