+1 on Bert and Tor is great also. I've found that I'll learn a little something different from every instructional DVD. If you learn 1 thing then it's money well spent

The VEPS series is a bargain. That set contains 10 times the amount of info that most dvds have. Hands down the best instructional material that I've purchased.
 
Dr. Dave's stuff is priceless for one type of shot at a time, Tor Lowry's package is great over all game and patterns, I have even started making banks and kicks....
 
Not a video but I highly recommend Joe Tucker's Guaranteed Improvement drill book. It's $11 on Joes site. It will bring your game up because by doing the drills repeatedly you will teach yourself how to strike the balls to get the desired results.
 
Hi bquiggle! I lived in CB for a few years, back 40 years ago. Went to school at Western State, on the ski team, and skied 100+ days a year from 1971-78. Moved away in '84 to MT. Been back several times over the years. Last time was last summer. Used to play pool at the Wooden Nickle and the Forest Queen, but i don't think they have a table any more. Sure love the Butte! I still have many friends in Gunnison! :thumbup:

Dr. Dave posted. Altho I don't have his yet, all one has to do is watch the Trailers, and you can easily imagine that the rest of the DVDs would be packed full of great info.

Tor Lowry's package of 3 downloadable DVDs would seriously give you a big surprise. I haven't heard one bad thing from anyone that has purchased Tor's.

The only other one that I can think of off the top of my noggin, would be Lee Brett's DVD. One can pick up enuff good info just by watching his UTbe Trailer.

Lee Brett has the Citizen Kane of pool DVDs.
Tor Lowry has the Godfather Trilogy of pool DVDs.

Hi,

I picked up many, many gems from Lee Brett's video. Really good stuff.

I'm also a very strong proponent of TOI. The information on CJ's videos really make sense to me.

Joe Tucker's videos contain excellent drills.

For me, this is always the best starting point. Especially if you like to know every detail of the "why." It is very scientific, but in layman's terms. Dr. Dave has impacted the landscape of billiard instruction more than anyone, probably ever! Also, Jerry Briesath's "Pool Lesson" is a good overview. It is maybe a little more about feel.

For books,... In the 90's, I would have suggested Byrnes' New Std Pool & Billiard (still an abundant wealth of info). Also, Ray Martin's "99 Critical Shots". Today, for books... Mark Wilson's book is the new standard for books. I think a book allows you to get more in depth, because of the time restraints of videos, also there are words that you can read in print, but that doesn't work well when spoken.

Another thing to remember is you don't have to buy Dr. Dave's VEPP/VEPS as a 5 disk set for the big price. You can buy one disk at a time and work through it, which is what I'm doing. I already have so much to work through anyways.

JCIN handles all of that and he's not great at shipping. He should have refunded you. If he didn't, pm me and I'll make sure you get the dvd or a refund.

The digital download is the best option. It's cheaper and instant.
 
Dr Dave's VEPP and VEPS.

If you play pool in a league or go to a pool room and pay for table time, it's hard to believe these DVD's are too expensive.

They explain why the balls do what they do.

Not only that, the FREE online resources more than make up for the cost of the discs.

I feel Dr Dave has the best pool teaching discs on the market. Bar none!
