My wife's bugging me to come up with a list of presents I want this year. Tis the season, right?
Obviously, pool being hugely important to me, this should be a goldmine. But my mind's drawing a blank right now.
So my question is this: say you have all the cues you want, the cases etc. etc., what would you say were the best Xmas presents for a pool player?
What do I really need in my (pool) life? I mean smaller things -- obviously I'd love a table, but living in NY, this would mean my wife first buying the gift of a multi-million dollar apartment that's big enough to contain a table. And that's not going to happen.
I'm thinking smaller things. Gadgets, gizmos etc. Oh, and I'm a pretty accomplished player, so I don't need anything that takes me through the basics. Something that's going to take me higher, or just give me enjoyment.
My recommendation to anyone out there is the two Walter Tevis books, The Hustler and The Color of Money. I'm sure we've all seen the movies, but have we all read the books? They're fantastic, both well-written and good stories. And no Tom Cruise character at all in TCOM. Put them on your wish list.
Happy holidays.
