Best pool Xmas presents -- any ideas?

What do I really need in my (pool) life? I mean smaller things -- obviously I'd love a table, but living in NY, this would mean my wife first buying the gift of a multi-million dollar apartment that's big enough to contain a table. And that's not going to happen.

I'm thinking smaller things. Gadgets, gizmos etc. Oh, and I'm a pretty accomplished player, so I don't need anything that takes me through the basics. Something that's going to take me higher, or just give me enjoyment.

My recommendation to anyone out there is the two Walter Tevis books, The Hustler and The Color of Money. I'm sure we've all seen the movies, but have we all read the books? They're fantastic, both well-written and good stories. And no Tom Cruise character at all in TCOM. Put them on your wish list.

Looking at my order book I can say that there are at least five. It's always important to remember that even in a down economy there are still plenty of people with money to spend on what they want. And some people still remember how to save for what they want.

One of my girlfriends used to pay cash for everything she wanted. She would scrimp and save for each thing but she had a great place full of nice stuff and she owed no one for any of it.

She often had to wait several months to get what she wanted but the feeling of paying for it in cash was big for her. And also she could often get the best deal by waiting and shopping around.
