Best "production" cue for $300

Schmelke all day and twice on Sunday. Heck, you can get a plain jane for $99. Made in USA, and great quality. Add an OB shaft and you are still at only $300 :)

Use my Schmelke in Leagues so I don't bang up my WIllie Hoppe ;)

IMO anyone that uses anything more than a cue under $75 playing on a Valley box is asking for a ding city cue in short order. Valley's tear up cues those raised corners. Johnnyt

After playing on Diamond bar boxes I will never play on a Valley again.
It's like going from a 1990 Chevy beater to a 2015 BMW.
And i'm going to throw Lucasi in just because I have one.
They make a solid cue with some bling for around $300.00.

I would stay with Pechauer but give a look to McDermott too.
At all costs, avoid Joss Cues. I had a brand new Joss cue with a severely warped butt and Dan Janes told me there was no warranty on that. There is never a warranty on junk. How low is that when you don't stand behind the workmanship and materials in a cue, yet you wish to maintain a good image? Don't be a sucker.

It would seem to me with the rapid advances in cue technology as well as the speed with which to manufacture a cue,, and the way so many manufacturers have embraced it which has forced prices down, there are countless cues that are damn fine for $300.00.

It would seem there are 2 categories from which to choose: Old school, or to be kinder, Classic Cues, or the New Technology cues.

For me, I play with a Lucasi Hybrid cue and am very pleased with it. Is it the "Best" cue for $300? Best is a very subjective word.
Maybe the journey to your answer will be a lot of fun; playing with different cues to see what you find to be the best. Enjoy! -S

Here's what you do. Convince McDermott to bring back their "Hustler" model M-11-B. Carry it as the exclusive USA dealer. Then pump it up here on AZB. "Hit's a ton with the lights out!" Or some other meaningless garbage of pool vernacular.

It is or was one of the best cues they ever made. And it is a real damn sneaky, sneaky pete. Even carry a two shaft version, one solid the other a I-2 without the logo.

I'd buy one, except I already have it.

I say Pechauer and I am a dealer. If you can tell me better, I would consider picking up that line. Opinions appreciated.

OB over Pechauer by quite a bit in my opinion.
Pechauer is a fine company, their finish is very good, but I don't like the hit of any Pro or Jp series cues.
There must be some new Pechauer stuff that I'm not aware of, if people are truly recommending them.

If you can find a dealer theyll always find ya a cue for 300. Theres a couple on this thread already showing up. You can also buy used. Im a MEUCCI guy but people tend to dog them. I would suggest OB. Predator. Mcdermott and Viking are solid. Pechauers are ok. Lucasi. Poison. You have and endless list. Just go with your gut. Dont over think it. Go with the company that says I cant wait to pull this cue out of my bag. It gives you a different type of confidence. Hell it could be a 50 dollar cue if that what you shoot well with. Its the mental aspect. Anybody can play with any cue but if you dont have confidence in what you shoot with it could ruin ya. GOOD LUCK.

this for usa made....all price ranges

also....consider players a second option

Schmelke's fancy SP's are under $300 and also made in your neck of the woods. Great to deal with too.

For $300 I'd recommend a Player's HXT, plus a Player's JB6 (or other equally priced jump/break cue), plus a 2x2 case.

You'd get change back from your $300 that you can spend on a moosehead bridge, chalk, etc.

Some of the Lucasi Hybrid cues are in that price range. I play on the LHSP and I like it a lot. A number players who have hit with it have told me it plays like a much more expensive cue.

Just my $0.02.

x2! Lucasi Hybrids are awesome.

I'm not gonna say "for the money" or "if anything will do", Nah... Best production cue consistently for the past few DECADES has been McDermott. People whip out Viking or Schmelke or even Joss and Meucci (not tossing mud at anyone)... But come now. Why is.there.even a discussion?

The hit never fails to tell u what's going on (non-steel joints) and the are built like tanks here in the United States. I'd seriously consider defecting to China the day McDermott closes their doors. Perish the thought. I'shot with a considerable variety of cues. Everything from an early early Rambow to. Bleeding Edge Searing Nuttr-Hugger exquisite especialle custom nom nom nom sell my kids kidneys for just the shaft cue.

McDermott.... Deal with it.

Pech's are great cues.I have 2.
I'd buy a Schmelke without hesitating.
CueTecs are great cues to own and use. I have more of those than brains. Do you handle that line?

I honest have never shot with a Joss so I have no opinion. Since I'm in Wisconsin and we have so many great companies here I have not explored a lot of other "production" builders. We are still looking to support any custom builders who are interested in our services, but with Schon, Jacoby, Viking, and Pechauer already in our stable I don't know that we would pick up another production line unless they were overwhelmingly Reccomended. OB is the one we may be considering. Ty for your input, we need it to improve on our ability to please our clients.

IMO, Joss is worth your taking the time to check out. The cues are well made and hit well, plus they have a reputation of providing a quality hit across the line like Schon. I just bought a Joss this past week.

I am not sure what to say about the poster with a bad experience other than perhaps there was a miscommunication or something else having an impact. I spoke with Dan Janes face to face when I bought my cue and he seemed like someone who would stand behind his work.

We are authorized dealers for Schon, Pechauer, Jacoby, and Viking, as well as Kamui. We really aren't looking to pick up another production cue line unless they cover a base we currently do not have covered. At this point we are more so looking to add custom cue builders to our available options. We appreciate all the input, but keep in mind we would prefer to sell cues built in the US and yes I know Viking has a line made in China and Kamui tips are made in Japan.
