best tip glue?

Stick Fast is CA. Seems like it would be just as vulnerable to aging via air as all other CA glues. Maybe its the better container tip seal that makes Stick Fast more stable over time? I dont do many tips and glue age is an issue for me. I sometimes go out as far as 6 months on a Loctite Ultra gel before replacing it and I know thats pushing my luck. I do keep the container in a ziploc bag and inside the house where its cooler. If Stick Fast can stay stable for 1 years...Im sold! Even 1 year on a small bottle would be cheaper than several blue bottles.

How is the Stick Fast for attaching break tips? Break tips popping off always indicates glue age

Is that a gel type CA Rick?
Do you use it when installing jump/break tips like Samsara and White diamond too?

Yes,

I use it for all tips and no problems,100% a ok..

I got sick of spending the money for the small Locktite applicator.

Gel is just medium CA.

10 Bucks for a bottle that lasts for years, I am in big time.

So far the viscosity has not changed so until I notice it being different I will keep using it.

I cut my nozzle back so it seats about a 3/16 fro the bottom on the cone. Again I clean the tip with my shop apron or my shop t shirts not a paper towel and it is always good to go.

I have heard that CA goes bad after opening it up but I can tell you that mine is doing fine.

Maybe the producers of these products wish to sell tiny amounts of product for high dollars.

People also buy 20.00 cue tips because they think it will make them play better. Not!

Locktite Gel. 0.14 oz for 3.00

Stick fast Medium 4.5 oz. For 10.00

I use to do about 10 to 15 tips a week for 10 years. I don't do that kind of business in tips since I closed my pool hall but I would have saved a ton using Stick Fast med.

Do the math. 32 bottles @ 3.00 = 96.00 compared to 10.00. That over 4 boxes of tips you can buy.

If my glue in that bottle starts getting funky I will post on this thread in the future and report my observations here. I don't expect I will get full utility from the 4.5 oz but I am going to find out and will share the info.

I see this at Woodcraft:
http://www.woodcraft.com/product/850358/Stick Fast CA Finish Medium 4 oz.aspx
Is this the same thing?
Now it shows CA Wood Finish Medium...
It is probably just newer bottles, correct?
I am going to try this out because I just had an issue with old glue ;-(

Thanks!

That looks to be the same packaging as the ca from CC
I haven't had very good luck with the CC glues, but I have had good sticking with the loctite ultra gel

Some food for thought, cyano is moisture activated. We all know that. But what I am not seeing is the mention of climate, which is specific to region. The glue that works for me out here in the high desert where much of the year is single digit RH, may not be the best choice for Lomax down in Georgia where the RH is rarely below 70%. Different grades & formulas of cyano will react to humidity in different ways, but all of them require it to cure. I use BSI IC-GEL, but have to wet the ferrule before sticking the glue covered tip on it. Otherwise it takes a very long time for it to cure. By wetting the ferrule, it cures quickly. Loc-tite cyanos snap off without having to wet the ferrule, but their shelf life sucks. I have to keep them in the fridge or they gum up & harden over time. The IC sits on my lathe shelf until it's empty, which is usually a couple months or longer. I can't really comment on bond strength, because pretty much all of the cyano I have tried for tips does a satisfactory job, meaning the tips don't pop off. The only time I ever have a tip debond is if I didn't face the ferrule well enough, not because the glue is junk. So I cannot say which adhesive is best for tips, only that the way they store & react are subject to climatic differences.

I had not thought this through like you have. This would explain why people get so many different results from the same product.
