I was wondering who you guys thought does the best tip work in the Midwest area? I have done business with Steve Lomax, and his tip work is exceptional. He travels around a lot, so I wanted to get somebody else for the times he's gone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Lol

Wichita is the Midwest, North Dakota is, well, it's north, a lot.

Bob Owen (Gabe's Dad) for Shurtz Custom Cues here in Wichita does good tip repair, but he mostly makes cues.

Thanks, but I'm not looking for just "good". I'm looking for exceptional.

Here's a picture of what I mean...

Actually we can pretty much open it up to basically anywhere in the U.S. I'm looking for QUALITY, not just somebody that can throw some tips on. I can find that here.

The results you show in your picture is not hard to accomplish. It's a matter of who is willing to go the extra mile and take the necessary steps....

I will take a chance and go out on a limb and say that any of the commonly known and respected cue makers here on AZ could / would / should / and actually do achieve the results you have pictured.... without even breaking a sweat... just a gut feeling, I could be wrong.....

That's what I'm looking for, and unfortunately not ALL "respected" cuemakers can do work like this. That's why I made this post. Since I have to mail my shafts back and forth to get quality work done, I want to make sure it's going to someone who is capable and willing to turn out work like this...

Troys here to stay- he has a great rep on az too

Not only does Troys team do good work- nobody stocks all the cues, tips, cloth, cases, cue building supplies- for internet Prices!!! mark

Just out of curiosity, what states do most consider the midwest. Opinions vary on this and here are a few that I have found.

I do my own tips , ferruls, cleaning, All other I use Ryan At mueller in Nebraska.......great guy does awsome work.

I can do the work you are looking for.

You beat me to the punch Troy. I was going to recommend you but you have already stepped up to the plate. I can speak from personal experience. Troy does EXCEPTIONAL work. Sorry for yelling.

I have no idea who is the best but I do know that Ryan at Muellers does a great job. I've had about a dozen shafts tipped by Muellers and all have come back in perfect condition.

Thanks a lot for the input on this guys. I hope nobody thinks I was being an arse by saying that I'm looking for some "Great" work here, or implying that there are only a few people capable of doing said work. All I meant is that I have to ship my cues off to be serviced, and if I'm going to spend the money to ship my stuff, I want to know that the work being done is of the highest quality since it's costing me more already.

I have had a few experiences with cuemakers that did not do a great job on tips. They got the tips on correctly, but used the wrong glue (you do NOT use liquid super glue on Kamui tips!!!), or barely got the sides burnised, or didn't even bother to shape the tip right or cut it down like I like them. THAT is the difference between just putting on a tip and doing a quality job of it.

It sounds like there are more than a few posters here that I can trust to do the work I need, so I think I'll be sending some PM's shortly!

Thanks again for your help!!!
