Gotta say.. I am wondering how legit this is.. The Golf powers-that-be would certainly like to see Tiger's stock rise to drive viewer counts and ticket sales, given his play itself is not getting it done, and after that stunt a week or two ago, Phil needs a bit of a PR bump.

If it's televised I'm guessing they will make that much from advertising.

Bobby Riggs, in his autobiography "Court Hustler":

"The first time I saw a golf course, I knew I was looking at a beautiful outdoor pool hall."

They're not putting that money up. It's sponsored, to be a live prime time tv event

Maybe there'll be some side bets tho

The author lost me at "cornhole".

Plus, the PGA would never allow their goody two shoes golfers to advertise real action.

i doubt they will be allowed to play by the pga

back in the 70s a bunch of guys ut up $1,000.000 here in Dallas for
Lee Trevino
to play Evel Knivel, the money was in a suitcase and the PGA stopped it

if these guys get away with this, tournaments will lose their monopoly and fans and sponsors will prefer the heads up action

this would be quite a game,i know i would watch it

golf has so many sponsors, these players have so much appeal

i hope they play

No loss of monopoly... Lesser players always have, and always will gamble. Top players probably gamble against each other, but not these amounts.

No way that these guys are putting up this amount of money out of their own pocket. Tiger is having enough confidence problems as it is, I really doubt he'd want to compound it by risking 10 million of his own, possibly getting destroyed by Phil if he has a bad day, and never winning a major again.. This is a marketing ploy, pure and simple, and the PGA is likely in on it.

The PGA provides a stable source of income for golf pros, and can put the hammer down any time they like on non-tournament gambling if it interferes with their business profitability. I highly doubt that many pros would forgo the PGA to try to make a living out of gambling against other professional caliber players. The ones who can hustle soon kill all their action if they get good enough, just like in pool. I am sure the same hustling problem has arisen through golf as has in pool. Everybody's got a cell phone, and no one is gambling big without going to the "rail" for consultation.

In short, this is a marketing stunt, which will probably help the PGA more than it will hurt it.

Breaking news !!!!!
Tiger woods & phil mickelson to play push-out golf !!
Tiger: No wimpy 1 foul for us !!
Phil: We play like men !!!
Stay tuned for more.........

1) no way it’s their money .. sponsors will be ponying that up.

2) These guys aren’t broke ass pool players lol Any pressure they feel will be because they want to win. 10 million to them is like $10 to most of us. So the money makes it interesting to the people watching but for them it’s not really a big deal.

It's just like the battle at bighorn, etc. on the course where they brought in the huge lights.

Just as in pool you have to believe there are savers negotiated, although Phil behind Fuzzy is known as one of the highest bettors on the course and pride might not make that a given.

They won't have savers because they will have part of the the network and commercial deal and that will dwarf the big horn cash because the Duvall was on top but not for long and Tiger was still just gaining his fans this is 100 times that and yes Phil has long been known as a gambler on the links , this is epic money here

Reminds me of an old golf show that put two top pros against each other. IIRC, it was Shell's World of Golf or something like that.
Good show.
