Beware of Brian Artrip (aka scruggsinhand)

Well...Happy New Year to all...I am a new member around and i have see at least 4 of this kind posts. I can say that made me very sceptical about buying stuff in here. But oh well, things like this happens everywhere not only here. I would like to say something on this. I will make a scenario which i think nobody thought about it or at least never said in here. Since we are loners in buying/selling proceedures in here, lets have an example: i buy something from someone. We aggreed in price/trade. I pay or send trade item. He/she eats his/her breakfast and then he/she is taking the package and go staright to the post office. Unfortunatelly, when she/he is trying pass across the road, a vehicle crashes on him/her and send him/her in a hospital!!. and i am asking now: Since noone else knows about the sell, how is it possible the package to be sent to the buyer? My point is that we cant accuse people if something bad happened to their lives. Suggestion: during the deal, 1 person from both sides has to be informed about this as guarantee or something like that. thanks for reading this. Costas

DIED – MAY 5, 2006 ** BILLY JACK ARTRIP, 68, of Ona, at his residence. Born January 28, 1938, in Huntington. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Edna Marshall Artrip. Survivors include his wife, Janet Adkins Artrip; daughters, Lisa (Red) Keelin, Lorrie (Chris) Crigger, Dorothy (Troy) Sturgeon, Kristie Berry, and Shawn (James) May; sons, Samual (Debbie) Artrip, Brian Artrip and Bobby Artrip; 17 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Thorney (Carolyn) Artrip and Don (Evelyn) Ross; and sisters, Denise Wright and Terry (Ed) Harris. Burial was May 9, 2006, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.



I just found this on Google... It appears to be an obituary for a family member of Brian Artrip. I think I would start calling all of them that are listed in the phone book and let them know what wonderful Brian has done.

What's up again buddy! happy new year to you. i figure if the guy dies he won't be there to receive the package so it'll be sent to the return address. and if you used a paypal account or money order you could still get the cash back if it hadn't been cashed or paypal'd take the dough out of the account for you
 
The whole story really made me sad and angry! I hope you can catch him! Are there any news yet?
 
Got a few contacts but nothing new. Just in case, if you bumped into him at some poolroom, please don't buy cues from him. That might be a stolen item.

You stated that you were willing to give up 50% to anyone who could recover your money, and you were joined in that offer by another, ripped-off, AZB'r. I really don't see why you don't simply tell Big Arm that you're hiring him to retrieve your money, legally, and leave it at that. Let him handle things. JMHO
 
I appreciate you bringing this public, I know it's a tough thing to do, and nobody wants to admit they were scammed, but you probably saved a couple of fellow members some grief in the future.

It's amazing how things work out. Brian actually sent a REFUND to me today!!

He also mentioned about refunding Chady's money.

I'm glad that Brian make things right even after so long. I hope to see Brian can come back as a new person and recover from his personal problems.

glad I got a little heads up about this guy, he PM'd me today about one of my Scruggs. I prefer SIMPLE deals, You mail money, I cash check, I send cue, done. He might have righted his past wrongs, but like I said, I prefer things that remain drama free.

FYI, check still can be bounce after few days. Make sure the check is cleared (around two weeks) before sending thee item.

Just my opinion.
