My take on all of this, keep in mind I have done recent business with both Karsten and cbi1000.
Both our deals went well, everything was shipped and paid for fast.
The deal I had with Karsten bounced because I made a mistake in my description.
It was also for a BCM 314 Shaft, which turned out to be 3/8x10 instead of 3/8x11 as I described it.
I off course gave Karsten a refund and he gave me back the shaft.
As luck would have it the deal I had with cbi1000 was also for a 314-2 BCM threads,
and I got the shaft in good condition as described.
So I have no reason to believe either cbi1000 or Karsten are anything but honest.
I believe cbi has shipped the shaft long ago, however I also believe Karsten hasn't received it yet.
I have contacted German Customs myself in an effort to find out what is going on with the package.
I was unable to find out anything about this package,
German Customs does not give out information about packages in their posession.
There are ways to file claims, but they take time (probably weeks rather than days)
and can't be done by outsiders.
Now, let's play Devil's advocate and say Karsten had started a thread about not receiving a shaft
he paid for thru paypal 6 weeks ago and asking for advice.
What do you think the advice would be? We'd all be telling him to file a claim with paypal and if the
payment was made thru Credit Card to cancel that payment too.
As it turns out Karsten figured that out by himself and did file a claim with paypal for an item
he paid for weeks ago, but still doesn't have in his posession.
That's when the poop hit the fan, and where things went really wrong.
I'm gonna have to side with Karsten here, no doubt.
Having his name dragged thru the mud like this is unacceptable.
As stated, I believe that cbi1000 sent the shaft when he said he did, I don't doubt that either.
However, I believe that a seller's responsibility doesn't end there.
It ends when the product is in the hands of the buyer AND the buyer is happy with what he got.
Failure of a third party (German Customs or USPS) to do their job DOES NOT alleviate the
seller from this responsibility.
So, what should be done?
The buyer should be refunded and if the shaft eventually does turn up it should be paid for once again.
Starting this thread......big mistake if you ask me. Have it removed.
More and better communication could and should have prevented this.
