I just love the sophisticated, logical repartee from some members here. It instills in one a sense of hope and appreciation for the pool world at large.

JB is still playing different people
it appears lou missed his chance of a pool lifetime and is angry
He is now retiring back to nickel dime pool where is is happier
which is fine
but he won't let go,he keeps knocking JB and boring the rest of us
JB is good for action,action is good for pool

My two cents - If it took someone covertly coaching John to get him to play me, I would be looking the other way while it was happening. I probably got cheated over a hundred times in my pool playing days. Guys would take a game off the wire when I was in the bathroom or steal a ball from my side in One Pocket, for two examples. I learned early on to play dumb and let them get away with it. They would think they were getting away with something and continue to play, and to lose more money!
If I were Lou I would just keep my mouth shut and hope he comes back for more. In my book it's always been bad etiquette to brag about beating a guy. Not to mention it's a great way to lose their action forever. There were times I beat some guy for ten or more games and when asked afterward how I did (in a poolroom everyone wants to know what happened!), I would just say we broke about even. Usually the guy who lost would appreciate the fact that I was not putting him down for losing or publicizing it. In fact I would do all I could to build up their game, reminding them of when I got lucky on a shot or they got a bad roll. That was how I made my living before I bought my first poolroom.
I know Lou will feel the need to respond to this and it's his right to do so. This is only my opinion of how I would handle a similar situation and he has every right to do it any way he wants. He seems to feel that it's necessary to beat a dead horse endlessly, long after the match is no longer relevant on here to anyone except him.

Kinda reminds me about a guy going around bragging to the whole pool room that he beat me one night. I found out about it about 20 minutes after the match was over when a guy I know came up and told me my opponent was going around the room telling every one he beat me.
I told the guy ....well I guess I will take that as a compliment if he thinks beating me is something to go around bragging about. The guy bust out laughing and said he guess that's a positive way to look at it.
It appears to be relevant enough for you to comment.
Given your comments above, Jay, here's what I would suggest: the Action Forum is right next door. Challenge JB to a 10K 1pocket match and arrange to have it streamed. And tell him you welcome him having a coach ringside. I'll be rooting for you.

I would refer you to my post #3 on this thread. By the way, I take back my comment regarding the relevance of this thread. After 100+ posts it does appear to still be generating interest.
This is true and I would still say it was speculation...but, it was so evident if you just paid attention and not just to me but to everyone on my side of the rail. In the grand scheme of things it really didn't matter but you even had the owner of the establishment acknowledge it and tell John and Dennis to knock it off. Just a little too much coincidence for me.
That said I am still holding out hope for a rematch. That was entertaining shit to watch.
Don't think you'll see a rematch, Koop. John posted on FB that he's going to dedicate himself to the growth of pool and not on his own game. He has surmised that gambling in pool matches has become for him, a 'zero sum game' that serves no other purpose than to feed the ego and, no matter how often you win you will always, inevitably book a bigger loser (I'm totally paraphrasing).
So,. I wish him the best of success booking winners for pool. Maybe he will sponsor some players or take a hard look at the American infrastructure of cue-sports which is in dire need of transformation.
Well, bummer for me but, good for John because I think he's right.
I think that's a pretty accurate statement. How many players do you that gambled and died rich ?
Well, he promised me some 1k-2k action at Derby this year, so let's hope he still wants to do that..

Haha, he “promised” you? No way he doesn’t deliver.
He also promised that Lou could set the bet amount up to $25,000 and he would gladly bet up to that (going by memory on the amount but I am within about 5 grand either side anyway) but when the time came he refused to bet more than the $10,000 that he really had no choice but to have to bet because of the no show fees being held by a third party. He also promised to side bet with Lou on the side as well, I believe for another $1,000 or thereabouts, and also reneged on that as well.
For the record I don't care how much they were willing to bet and it doesn't impress me either way, and I wouldn't think less of either one if they wouldn't bet more than $100 for that matter, but what I do have a problem with is when somebody isn't a man of their word.
It was a $500 a game side bet between our wives, which he back out on, along with all the side bets he swore he'd cover. He would'd even cover a $100 side bet shouted out from the rail.
Later on he claimed we never made that bet.
