As the BCA nationals have now been moved to July the tickets for us Europeans becomes really high .
In the months July and August we pay in Belgium around $500 more for a single ticket , so if decide to come with my wife to Las Vegas i will be paying around $2500 for the tickets alone .
Are there other big tournaments in Las Vegas outside these 2 months that us Europeans can participate at ? Keep in mind that i want to play in the amateur tournament .

Thanks ,

CM

RSCA Hooligan;

Sorry to hear that the change in dates can cause a rise in ticket costs.
I am sure you looked into buying them in advance and all that.

Keep in mind that the BCAPL is about the only one worth going to from the amateur side (in Las Vegas) that will someone to play in.

Many events have qualifying obligations - the BCAPL allows you to become a player member and participate.

In addition, we will have 7,000 (or so) players ++ 3 Pro events (US Open one pocket/10-Ball/ and 8-Ball). ++ WPA World Trick Shot Championship and the BEF Junior 9-Ball Nationals.

We are trying to have 300 @ 7' tables and 22-25 @ 9' tables.

In addition, TAR will stream the 9' events-FREE if you are in the hotel.
General seating for the pro events will also be FREE if you are playing!!

There is a reason it is called 'The Greatest Pool Tournament in the World".

It is Mark without a doubt and exactly why I became BCA sanctioned this year.

I have heard nothing but great stories from the boys when they get back home.

The other repairman in town makes it his yearly holiday.

You have the ACS Nationals followed by the VNEA Nationals in May, one trip two lots of tournaments.

But as Mark said, these are for qualified league members only, I think only BCA is where any amateur can play in certain events.

You can pay your yearly (ACS) membership and play in the singles 8 & 9 ball events. You have to qualified for teams and scotch doubles events.

Las Vegas big tournaments

You are factually correct about ACS -

But the topic was BIG tournaments.
ACS does not qualify as a big event; I don't think they had any event with over 128 entries (in the last 3 years or so) and that was 9 ball singles. Their total head count is about 750-900.

Our unique head count is always between 6,500 and 7,000!
We have 20 divisions with over 128 players - including men open singles with over 1200 entries.

In fact our men's open singles has more payout than the ENTIRE ACS event.

VNEA is much larger. But BCAPL is twice as large as VNEA, and we have all the other events (3pro events) plus Junior nationals and WPA World trick shots.

Obviously I feel we are the best - don't believe me. Talk to anyone who has been to the different events.

Best to everyone in Billiards.

You simply can't deny that what Mark says is true. Nobody else even comes close. The BCAPL event is the "big enchilada" of the amateur pool tournaments...plus NO handicaps, so no sandbagging. Just bring your cue and your big stroke, and lay 'em down! It's certainly the one event that Randyg & I choose to bring our Master's Pool School to, every year, to offer organized perspectives to hundreds of players, who attend our free seminars...or choose to have an inexpensive, eye-opening video analysis of their stroke done. Can't wait to come to the Rio in July. It's gonna be the Greatest Show on Earth!

How are you going to sneak in to the States this Year?

I joined the BCA in 1986 and been going to the BCA Nationals since 1988, so I've watched it grow through the years. My personal opinion is it's gotten too big. I liked the travailing to different cities also instead of staying in Vegas. It use to be cheap to stay in Vegas, but not any longer and that was the draw. I played in both the ACS & BCA last year. I went to the ACS for the first time since the split and got to see some old friends that I haven't seen in years and enjoyed it just as much. I have booked my reservations for both again this year.
