Billiard Ball Set Without Numbers

I saw a thread in the for sale section inquiring about Raschig ball sets and I was wondering... Does anyone make a full set of non-numbered balls? Meaning all 15 balls, same colors but just no numbers? The only way I can see it happening is ordering a custom set from Saluc...

I have seen a 8 ball sets that consisted of 2 sets of 7 balls of red and yellow plus a black ball with no numbers. Don't know the purpose. It would make a game of call shot hard and also confusing trying to tell someone the order of balls to shoot.

You could buy 16 cue balls and use them for a set of one colored balls if you want to have a lot of arguments.

Actually the red an yellow balls could have a purpose if you want to use them as a training aid for eight ball. After the balls are broken you can very quickly read the table to see what is the best set, what balls are in trouble, and find patterns for the run much quicker.

In the UK, their "Barboxes" are usually 3.5x7 with snooker pockets and 7 reds, 7 yellow, 1 black sets. Rules are very similar to Eight ball, but have a 2 shot foul rule.

Problem is they are snooker sized balls (2 1/16") not pool size (2 1/4")

They are called Casino Balls. They are used for 8-ball and a helper for the spectators or a TV audience. I have a set that came out of the 1979-80 Rocky Moutain Open 9-Ball Tournament. These came out of the BCA Team 8-Ball Championships that were held in conjunction with the the (-Ball event. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Thanks for your replies, but I was thinking more along the lines of the Raschig 9 ball set but still continuing with the 10-15 balls. Meaning having just a white ball with the same yellow stripe as the 9, a white ball with the same blue stripe as the 10, and so forth. I was just considering them just as a novelty set of balls. As for people saying it'd be hard to call shots... after playing pool consistently for a while don't you know what balls are what even without looking at the numbers?

I wish they would make balls like that. Perhaps we can all go in and order a million sets from Saluc and get our own custom balls manufactured. I know that the guy who owns the game Bonus Ball is working with Saluc(I'm 90% sure thats who he is working with) his purple ball is currently too dark, and he is making them brighter but they are a lot more expensive to manufactor. I have no idea what the minimum order is. Probably more $$ than there would be interest. and alot of people would get confused.

Raschig Balls

Dirk - I'm relatively new to this, and would like to know how I can purchase a set of Raschig 9-balls and possibly the striped ball that has "Raschig" stamped on it. Thanks, Rich

The company no longer makes pool balls so far as I know. Here is a thread from a while ago that indicates that they have been out of the business for about 18 years. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=2321653&highlight=raschig#post2321653

So, if Dirk is not willing to part with his set, Ebay may help.

I think he was referring to the set of 7 yellows and 7 reds. It could get confusing when calling shots as in 8 Ball, especially when there is traffic and other balls are going to bumped into and moving.

But I agree, a premium set of balls with no numbers would be kind of cool.

Prestige Balls

You might be looking for a set of balls called Prestige Balls. This is something that we're looking at carrying, so I'd love to get some feedback as well. Basically it's a full set of balls with the numbers removed. I believe they're going to be priced around 70 bucks. Steve has them available for preorder now on his website.

The Prestige balls are nice, but the striped balls are kind of 'eh'.

Personally, I'd want a traditional set, but with the numbers removed.

Just my opinion...

What are they going to be made out of? Also why is the 7 ball that odd orange color that can and will be confused with the 5 and the 1?

I'm not sure the 7 ball is orange. The picture seems to have each solid next to it's associated stripe. To me the 7 Ball appears next to the 15 ball in the row of 4 balls, right behind the 8 ball. I think the 3 and 11 balls in the last row are the ones you are looking at and it's probably just color distortion in the photo. The pic that was posted shows different hues than another picture on the website linked in your post, although the 3 and 11 in that photo don't exactly look red either. ;)

What you say makes sense. I would like to see a good photo to show the colors in their correct hue. I might want a set of these.

I have an unused set of Raschig 9-balls. They are with their original box and the balls have no numbers. I also have several sets of Raschig 15 ball sets with their original boxes. I'm thinking of selling these sets but have no idea as to their value. Can you help?
