If you don't want to or can't get contacts or surgery, these special glasses are your only option. I don't trust contacts or surgery, and have been wearing normal glasses all my life, and playing pool for 15 years with normal glasses. My vision is horrible, so I can't play at all without glasses.
When I got pool glasses, I couldn't believe what I had been missing regarding what I can see at the table. It literally improved my speed a ball in less than a month. It allowed me to lower my stance, and for the first time, I could see more than just one ball at a time. Meaning with normal glasses, if I looked at the cue ball, I couldn't see the object ball in the slightest. Likewise, if I looked at the object ball, I couldn't see the pocket in the slightest. Now with the pool glasses, I can see 2 of these objects at the same time.
There are many types of frames and lenses for these glasses. And the newere types don't look as bad as the older ones. But for most of us here, pool is paramount to looks.
Take another look at the two threads linked above. In those threads I have posted pictures of my glasses and gave specific instructions on how I had my optician custom make them. And as other posters have shown, there are many off the shelf solutions that work very well.
Let me reiterate for 15 years I played with normal glasses and didn't think there was ANY problem. I was just so used to them and my stance and eye patterns accommodated them. I then got my custom pair and that allowed me to change my stance, my eye patterns during stroking, and what I see when sighting a shot. The glasses were the turning point that allowed me to put my whole game together. If you need glasses and can't or don't want to go the contact or surgery route, you MUST get pool glasses!
