Billiard Instructors????

The three names that would pop up right off the bat are Randy G at Cue-Tech in Texas; Scott Lee, who is a one-man traveling academy; and Mark Wilson out of St. Louis. Since you're in PA, your best bet would probably be to see when Scott will be passing through your area. Aside from these guys, however, there are loads of excellent instructors out there that are too numerous to list. At the very least, seek the services of a BCA-certified instructor in your area. If you go to the Billiard Congress of America's website at www.bca-pool.com you will be able to find the names and locations of BCA-certified instructors in your state.
As to whether expert instruction is worth the time and money? Absolutely! In every sport that I can think of, a good coach or instructor can make all the difference in the world for a player's development. Pool is no different. Do a search on any of the names mentioned above and you will see testimonial after testimonial as to how working with these professional instructors has helped people's games!

Ted Ito is a Master BCA Instructor and has helped to greatly improve the game of several players in the greater Sacramento, CA. area ... You can find him most every morning at the Jointed Cue on 24th & Fruitridge in Sacramento ... He quite possibly is the best player over 80 years old ...

I have played him for small $$$ he gave me the 7 and we broke even a few times and he beat me a few, he never hustled me it was the right game, he is a man who i honor.

From personal experience, I know that Jerry Briesath is the cat's meow.
He is observant and can detect weaknesses in your game quickly and suggest corrections that make sense and fix problems quickly.
Scott Lee and Randy Goettlich seem to have a pretty good following as well.

$4000 for 3rd/4th place. That's actual money this time around, as opposed to when I got 3rd 2 years ago. The APA did a good thing by nixing the whole half cash half prizes deal and going w/all cash this year. Eliminates LOTS of headaches and grief.JoeyA said:
I'm basically leaning toward Jerry Briesath (I didn't know how famous he was, just that he was good) simply because I have relatives in Chicago to stay with if he's in the Milwaukee area.

Jerry winters in Phoenix, AZ and summers in Madison, Wisconsin (not Milwaukee). I suggest that you call directly as the websites above are merely informational. Good luck with your game - I have worked with both of these instructors, and as teachers they are fabulous beyond belief - do what they say and you WILL progress.

Jerry Briesath lives in AZ in the winter, and has a place in WI in the summer. He teaches out of Cuenique Billiards in Madison, WI in the summer months, and out of STIX in Phoenix in the winter months. He won't be back in WI until next month, after the pool tournaments in Vegas end.
