Did anyone catch the small blurb about Danny Harriman getting the high run of 154 at the Derby City Classic Straight Pool Challenge?

You would think that the person who wrote the story or an editor might have been able to check his facts with Bob Jewett who put on the event before going to press.

Schmidt had the high run of 154, closely followed by Corey Deuel with 153. I think Danny had a 114, but I'd have to check.

Maybe we should not be upset about its incorrectness, rather be glad that pool has made it back into another publication.

Maybe you should screw your head on straight and demand that your news be objective and that people get credit where credit is due!

There ain't no GC's at the Derby... guaran-dam-teed! :groucho:

Thanks.

That's what I thought. Do you know what and who has the highest run on one of those bad boys (I think it's around 160 from a tape with John schmit commentating.

Pointing out a mistake is not lack of gratitude... imo. That mistake sure as hell needs correction

THANKS DENNIS! (Simonis green there :groucho: )

Sorry,

I Miss read the thread title, thought it was a Sports magazine that had The Real Game Of Pool in it.

But like i said it is good to see that there are some articles of Real Pool....

Lets Keep 14.1 Alive and Kicking.

Its players like this that can do it, with the right Promotion and all.

Lets put 9Ball, And 10 Ball back on the back burner, and get back to serious pool!

Now that you have correctly read it and we are back from our little detour, what do you think?

Billiards Digest is not some rag.

George Fels, Bob Jewett, and others who are pretty darn good writers and who care about straight pool are on their staff. It's very surprising to see this kind of mistake in Billiards Digest. Very amatuerish.

I do like that BD does devote a lot of space to 14.1, but they should check their facts before they go to press. (Can you say "EDITOR"?!)

A little harsh dont you think?

Not that harsh. Just trying to get the post back on point.:grin-square:

p.s. If you are looking for a little harsh, see posts 3 and 4.;)

You guys have fun at the Expo. Wish I were able to go. Lots of nice toys there, I bet.

Not harsh at all

Your not out of line at all Dennis, i don't like being confused with Schmidt. I think it's important to be honest when dealing in business, I have many fault for sure but I mean what I say no matter how much $ is at stake. I have more respect for someone who keeps their word and that I can trust than someone who has run 400 on a loose goldcrown. When two peolpe make a gentlemans agreement and shake hands that should be good. I am sorry to say that some people do get desperate and play mind games, they are very clever but the bottom line is their word is worth as much as a warm bucket of spit and they don't care as long as it helps them accomplish their goal. When dealing with these people you need to get everything in writing, this was indeed my experience with John Schmidt. I think Dennis is right, we all make mistakes but get the facts right before you print or else it makes it look like the magazine does not care about 14.1 results. I don't know what yellow journalism is but I hope BD gets the correct info next time.

Danny,
I know you and John have differences but when you two trash each other on this forum, it makes the both of you look bad. If you care about the game and your reputations, you can try to work out your differences or at least, keep it civil.

That's all

No more trash talk I agree - just wanted to let you know it was not a pleasure doing business with you. I just wish people would really mean what they say, he questioned my word during play about the jump cues and said I was acting like a little b#!*h for wanting to play by the rules we agreed to. You may be a gracious and sound as elequent as you want John but I know how much you really don't like me, I would like an apolagy for the name calling and all of the drama with you wanting to argue about the rules.

I gave Brady Behrman a chance to be honest on this forum and he failed miserably, now I will give you a chance Mr. Schmidt - did u really forget about the jump cue or was it just a move so that u could call me that name I asked you not to. It's OK to be honest John it won't cost you any $. Did you forget about the jump cue? As usaid we did not have it in writing?Sorry John but when you admit it was a move and or at least explain your mood then I will move on, I think I do have an apolagy coming - u may pm me if u like. There are alot of people on here that would like to know about your jump cue dillema u had and all of the name calling that insued there after from you John. As for a rematch I would have to say no thanks, you play well and your a very hard to get along with, I was not a bit surprised to hear however that u did not want a rematch with a ref. That would spoil your game plan from what I saw.

I hope you will surprise me and answer - you owe me that much I would think.

again danny lifes short ,try not to let it pass you by being bent out of shape all the time.
i gotta lot of things to be happy about and so do you.

why dont we just go our own ways and when we draw each other in a tourney try hard to win but either way just shake hands and not say a word.

i think it would be best for our careers .
