Are doing a brilliant job announcing the SBV Shane game on the action report, they are not doing the phony ESPN dumb it down for the public talk, they are players talking to players-its great for those of us who dont need explinations just straight pool talk and their opinions of the shots!!! Its great.

I will have to agree here. It was pretty funny chatting with people online about the loudness of Billy and some mispronunciation from the two, but I think they did a hell of a job. I have been a critic of Grady's over the past few months because of his bitterness on the forum and multi-thread starting, but I will have to say, the man knows his stuff and is great in the booth. Kudos to all of the actoin report guys for a very exciting and well planned event.

They did a good job considering how long it was and given the fact it was over hours before it ended, like I said it was players talking to players not the TV bull$hit Mitch Lawrence or Jimmy Wytch.

I think you ment Jimmy wytch (canadian), Jimmy Wetch(Minnasota) is a great player and you wouldn't want to beat the wholy hell out of him in the middle of his commentations. Check your nerves at the door=Jimmy wytch, I love brunettes=Jimmy Wetch.

Billy and Grady were great. They made the match very entertaining.... not that the PERFECT FREAKIN POOL BY SHANE wasn't entertaining. I loved it all.

But.. didn't I see somewhere that Buddy was supposed to be a part of the commentating team?
 
Yes Grady was at his best. Informative, funny, self deprecating but with dignity. I loved the combo of he and Billy. Why didnt he post like that on the boards?

Probaby because he'd like to have a place where he is allowed to vent as well. Just like a marriage, you take the good with the bad.

Grady should be allowed to vent here without getting told he's old and bitter. Some of the greatest matches ever filmed are on tape forever BECAUSE of Grady's commitment to the game.

Grady was the same as he has always been on the Accustats tapes. He analyzes the table well and interjects on topic personal stories at the right times.

Commentating is a one way street however. Grady can be the Grady we all love BECAUSE he doesn't have a ton of people firing back at him for every comment he makes. He speaks we listen.

So if you like that Grady then support your sport and get him in the announcer's booth and make it known to promoters that Grady is a fan favorite both as a commentator and a player.
 
I laughed so much when Grady laughed and said to Billy: You can call me gay if you want. I'm an old man, I don't remember everything so well anymore! (something like that)

They both did a very good job!
 
So what happended to Buddy? I thought he was supposed to be one of the commentators.
 
On a nice note I got a couple autographs from Grady, a cueball and the back of my case. Grady asked me, "Do you want me to sign some more?", as he eyed the collection of ten balls and cue balls I had reserved specifically for Shane and Corey. I said thank you but those are for Shane and Corey. I certainly got the impression he would have signed a hundred of them for me. Thank you Grady and good luck with your new pool hall!

Grady, Absolutely a class act His knowledge is indisputable ,his commentary is informable and his love of the sport is unquestionable . Good luck Grady on your new pool room, whatever tournment you sponsor I,ll be there

Grady has always been one of my favorite commentators and I was sad when he left Accu-stats and I haven't bought anything from Accu-stats since he left.

It said on the web site he couldn't make it for personal reasons
 
I believe that one of the reasons why Grady Mathews likes being a commentator is because I think he knows that this is where he shines today, and he has a lot to offer.

Though Grady will still step up to the plate and show no fear against anyone when it comes to games of stake, I think his strong suit today is disseminating bits of pool nuggets in the form of commentary, and he loves it so much, giving back to the pool community, Grady style. :p

I missed all the hoopla of the Van Boening versus Deuel match-up due to work, but I am going to purchase the DVDs when they are available. I appreciate the great updates and comments from those who witnessed it live. It must have been one fine pool exhibition for all the lucky ducks who watched it as it unfolded. :)

I also must add that I like listening to Billy Incardona as well. One year at the U.S. Open, I was sitting a few rows up from the TV table, and Billy came and sat next to me. We watched a match together, and I got to hear Billy's commentary one on one, right next to me. He, like Grady, has walked the walk and can talk the talk. In fact, looks to me like Billy is still walking the walk, reading all of the recent threads about his match-ups! :D

Kudos to the Action Report crew

I watched the online streaming for most of the match and I think it's the best yet of any previous online live presentation by anyone. I want to thank all the Action Report crew for their efforts and Grady and Billy for their excellent job narrating the long match WITHOUT commercial interruptions and editing! Their insight to the game was very knowledgable. Also, the stories and comments were very interesting. This type of production exemplifies what the pool world is all about and allows the drama to develop as the match progresses. I enjoyed it very much but wish that Buddy could have made the trip which would have been icing on the cake! Grady and Billy are so good and I hope that the Action Report crew has more events planned. This event was very successful in many ways. Again, I appreciate the effort of many to make this historical event possible!

I wonder if Grady and Billy actually realize how many up and coming pool players their commentary alone have encouraged. I know when I was learning to play one pocket, I used to look for those two commentating first, then the score of the match to decide which tapes to buy from Accu-stats. Its great to see the two of them back in the booth together. JMO.

Great event!

It was a great event.

Billy and Grady back together was momentous on its own. They did a tremendous job and really made this match worth it's weight in gold.

I had a great time live chatting with some fellow AZ'ers and others during night one. We had a great time laughing at the "twirl" references. We could have almost tourned using the word twirl or references to filipinos into a drinking game. All of the little imperfections are what made the commentary so perfect.

It ended up being expensive for me to watch the match ($170), but worth every penny. Shane really stepped up and played GREAT. Nobody in the world could have beaten him in that race to 100. He truly is the World Champion at 10 Ball.
