:D Hello everyone,
I am a new member here and thought I would start a thread for my new DZ cue I have on order. It is due in sometime near the first week of August. I will keep updating this thread for a "Final Review" when I receive the cue and play with it.

The cue will have a net length 3/4" Mason's Micarta Threaded Ferrule with 1/4" locating shank on a 13mm shaft w/ Triangle tip;
Juma Joint collar/butt cap; 3/8" 10 TPI flat bottom SS pin (Bob's standard pin)
4 Amboyna Burl veneered points set into cored East Indian Rosewood Forearm.
Veneered points are: Royal Blue (2x), Black, White.
Trim Rings: Amboyna burl with 8 Lapis oval inlays; Black linen sandwich (ABCDE).
Black Irish linen wrap with Blue speck.
Spear shaped diamonds with thin ivory outline/Lapis center on the 4 points.
Repeat the diamond patterns in butt sleeve with thick Ivory: 4 up & 4 down with Oval Amboyna Burl windowed with thick Lapis oval outlines in
between the spear point diamonds.
19 - 19.25 oz

I will document the process thus far:

My brainchild was designed on AutoCad and sent in to Bob for an estimate to see if I still wanted to build a cue for myself or not.

Bob was very pleasant to deal with; he gave me a 30 day price guarantee/quote; After 1 year, he still gave me the same original quote.

I chose him because I saw his in-process pics on his web site and decided NOT to build my own cue after getting his quote (I have been researching this for Quite some time...)
His site showed his extreme attention to detail and very tight tolerances.

We fine tuned the final design and he offered great suggestions after mock ups. Bob was very patient with me and remained pleasant through the entire process.
I drafted the mockup of the final concept on Unigraphics NX 7.5 and sent it to Bob.

Bob continued building the cue and sent very high resolution pictures and provided several videos of my cue in process.
http://www.dzcues.com/videos.html

The last 4 vids are of my cue (seen in my avatar). His forearms page shows the cut progression for the point blanks/veneer stacks. There is also a video in the YouTube menu of him cutting the grooves into the EIR cored forearm.

The videos mentioned above show Bob's process for cutting my Ivory / Lapis inlays and most of the pockets in the cue.

I am TOTALLY pleased with how everything looks so far. I am so eager to try this cue out soon. It has been totally worth the wait (Build commissioned at New Year's week with my 20% downpayment)... Approx. 6 months when done.

Attached Pics (tried to size appropriately):

The veneers stack on the right was switched out for a newer one (black and white swapped around... I don't have the updated stack. It's seen in the cue. ;)
Bob covered why on his forearms page: http://www.dzcues.com/forearms.html
He really is great to work with.

All four points are even and very nicely done.

Anyway,
I spoke with Bob today and he just finished gluing in the inlays...more pics to come. Stay tuned...

Thank you for reading my thread.:outtahere:

Bob is my cuemaker of choice as well. I've had several.

I did TONS of research on him before I ordered(as much as I could find anyway). I can find nothing negative about his work or business reputation. I highly valued your comments/reviews here on AZ, as well as a9ballBr8k's Brazilian Rosewood Titelist tribute review. Between the reviews and his web site pictures of the in progress stuff (old site), That sealed the deal for me.
Many thanks to you both for all of your Dzuricky reviews.

I haven't seen my finished cue quite yet, but your DZ with the barbell/gunsight in the points with the blue and green veneers is my favorite so far. I liked your other one as well.
My cue is a bit different as far as veneers go, but I think I am really gonna like it. It doesn't quite look the same/balanced until all of the Ivory inlays and the lapis are put in (based on my mock ups in NX 7.5). It balances out the white and blue throughout each piece of the cue and ties together nicely. I can hardly wait. I have been progeressively designing/wanting this cue for nearly 15 years. :thud: I was originally going to try and build one myself until I saw Bob's web site.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

I trust you will be very happy with you new cue, I have 2 of Bob´s cues built to my specs and they are great both in finish/quality and playability.

Bob is also like you said very nice to work with, his photo skills is super!

I´m actually thinking of ordering another one from him, prob a 8 pointer - his point work is second to none.

Hope to see more progress pics as it comes around.

Thx for sharing

Thank you, for your comments regarding my cues. Yours, too, will be a looker. Those veneers are really going to pop once the cue is painted/cleared.

I also tried to do research on Bob when I was looking to have my first built; not much was available. Which is why I chose to write up the in depth reviews. I have commissioned cues since, but thought further reviews like before would be over kill. Bob and I have worked together on about 5 projects. Each unique, and each flawless. I'm ready for another, just need to get the funds together.

I cant wait to see your cue completed.

response to Chrippa and Buster8001...more stuff

Thanks for the replies... Chrippa, I had your butt sleeve and forearm pics from Bob's in process pic's on my desktop wallpaper for a while(the cue with butterflies between the points and in Butt Sleeve). I really liked those pics.
Buster, Thanks for the compliment...it is a little different than the average cue. The veneer stack order was reconfigured per Bob's suggestion. It works nicely.

I will go ahead and post some concept stuff to show the inlays installed from my NX drawings and some screen shots from Bob's CNC work found on the "How-To Videos" link on his site:

Bob had free reign to choose the thickness of the outlines and overall size of the inlays to keep the cue from looking over done. Measurements will be slightly different than drawn.

I should have a pic or 2 to show the actual cue with inlays soon. All drawings are to Bob's cue dimensions. I was not able to get the woodgrain pattern to show up with the software. I was able to change the colors around as I selected the final options for my cue. The rings were Bob's suggestion. They were originally Amboyna Burl with 1/8" Micarta squares. I sent updates to him as it "evolved." I have had a great experience with my first custom cue:thumbup: Bob's work is superb.
Thanks for following...

Bob is awesome. Mine was 27 weeks just as he said. Complete pictorial of almost every step of the build. Keeps you fired up while you wait! My cue was somewhat unorthodox but there is not another cue even close in appearance. Lay my cue down with twenty other cues and it stands out like a yellow motorcycle in a parking lot of black bikes! I would post pics but my kids are still sleeping. LOL. New cue builders could take lessons on customer relations from Bob. Cue plays great, no regrets whatsoever.

Yes he´s awesome, most of the makers I have worked with are great but no one has Bob´s photoskills, - so fun to get the pics with some updates - makes the hole thing so so fun. And when they play great also.... couldn´t be better.
My setup is a bit forward weighted and around 1.250 handle with shaft´s at 12,75 with 1/2 ferrule and Kamuii black SS, his taper.
Shoots so straight and with great feel, real consistent.

NP; will do on the pics... Bob should be finish cutting the cue with the inlays very soon, if he hasn't already. It started curing on Saturday. Pic is "on the way"

i was at bob's last week.
I saw your cue & it is very nice.
Bob did a titlist conversion for me, the cue in my avatar, several years ago.
I also have a plain jane he did probably fifteen years ago & he is about ready to take the final cut on another on for me now.

You will not find a finer person to deal with.
Look forward to seeing your finished cue.

Slim,
Thanks for the reply... I should have read this before I pm'd you about your upcoming cue.;)
Send me a pic or 2 of your cue... I'll PM you with an email or you can PM it to me if you like. I would love to see what you have in the works. I am guessing Bob will get yours done just prior to mine. I will watch his finished cue page to see it there.
He put in the inlays for my cue on Saturday, did you happen to see it before or after? Either way, I would love to see it in person at the shop. You can post pics here too, if you want, after all it is a thread for Bob's work.

Anyway,
It seems that Bob is really one of the better/best people to work with, based on what reviews people have given him and the way my experience is with him so far.
Props to BOB!!!
It seems that most or all of his customers eventually order multiple cues from him. Not that other cue maker's don't have that as well, but it does say a lot about Bob's work and business/people skills.
I can not say the same thing for a local cue maker here (nationally known I might add...was a total jerk to me several years ago).

I will defintiely be coming back for more cues from Bob when the need arises.

Jeremy

WOW!! That really pops!

:happydance:I am amazed at how it turned out so far. The lapis and the Amboyna burl ovals...Man that is great.
It looks like you really took some extra time to get a highly figured section of Burl set up for the milling of the ovals
in the butt sleeve. The points are sweet too.

:clapping::bow-down: You do amazing work, Sir. I am hooked...

I believe he has an 8 pointer for sale still on his site. It is very nice.

I guess this was for me, I know and it sure is nice. However part of the fun when "making" a cue for yourself is to be involved (like you are now) during the process and especially with Bob because of his constant updates both with mails and great pics.
I also have some idea how I want it to look.
I gave my ebony cue a spin yesterday and boy it plays so, so nice:).

Take care and please show us more when you get some updates.

RE to Jim...

WOW , Beautiful . Amazing workmanship . Jim

The set of JP's you and Christy did should look nice on it. :thumbup:The colors seem to be a perfect match. I can't wait... Thanks for the post.
