what is the best way to get my body aligned for the shot?
your lead leg needs to be planted on the line of the shot.
ie right handed right leg, left handed left leg.
Lee,
Borrowing a term from some of the extreme sports, I just tried a quick stance with my legs goofy footed, right handed with the right leg slightly forward. A huge change in body position from my right leg a little back stance. Didn't feel near as evil as I thought it would though.
However I think you still mean for the body to be fairly square with the left leg slightly in front of the right in the final stance for a right handed player or am I mistaken?

I have just this week changed to a snooker stance because I needed to have more consistence in my game and so far it is working for me. It was a bit uncomfortable at first but I soon found the right position for me and it has made a world of difference. There have been a number of articles and threads on this but just in case you missed out on them here is one for starters. http://www.fcsnooker.co.uk/basics/the_stance/stance.htm also look to Lee Brett and ShootingArts because they are on the right track. Thank you Lee Brett and ShootingArts.
