Bonus ball the truth

Was Lee paid more than 2 weeks worth of his 6 weeks worked, which was based on a 26 week contract?

No.

We aren't under contract sir. We basically have a verbal agreement and are working on trust and faith this venture will work. I haven't been (and don't expect to be) paid for 26 weeks either. I worked 6 weeks from May to July announcing and from October through today doing that and some administrative things and that's all I have been paid for and all I SHOULD be - not for 26 weeks. If I had something in writing saying otherwise it would be different, but I don't.

Raj Hundal: For the first time in my career I saw players stick together and have each other's backs, in my world that's respect. Pool would have been in a much better place if this ethic was implemented decades ago. Although we can't fix the past we can fix the future!!!

This had me rolling in the aisles. The only time the players are united is when they are owed money. There was unity in the IPT non-payment experience. There was unity in the US Open 9-ball non-payment fiascos. There will be unity the next time the pros are stiffed together on payment.

For Raj to suggest that we are at the dawning of a new era in pool in which pool players will respect themselves and each other is so far fetched that I truly laughed out loud.

so you've paid AZB's invoice @ 360 days arrears, in full now?

.

Seems like kinda a scumbag move for VLR and fastlenny to be on here, freely promoting an enterprise, that owes this very forum $$. How anyone can not see what a classless organization bonus ball is escapes me.

I haven't and it's not for me to see. And I can't speak for what everyone was told prior to May when I arrived. I just know there were some inconsistencies in what Lee posted with what I have witnessed, and the league has done it's best to compensate everyone in the hopes of building something.

Yet, to my knowledge, people who purchased the season package haven't even had the courtesy of a reply to their emails.

I have far more sympathy with these people than anyone else.

Never read about this here. Where, when? Please quote.

The reality is different. People who moved did so based on the fact that the season was supposed to be TWENTY-SIX WEEKS. Plus, Johnny Archer publicly stated multiple times that the two first seasons were financed.

So, people moved thinking that over the course of the next two years, they would work at least 52 weeks, plus the playoffs.

Now let me revert the question: If you would have known the first season would have been 7 weeks spread across 7 months, with late pay and no further date than 'early 2014' for the playoffs, would you have moved? would anyone else have?

.

ABOUT LEE'S DISMISSAL:

BACK TO THE WPBL:

Steve, with all due respect, the league has FAR from "made right" to anyone.
- They promised 26 weeks of play and had only 7 total.
- They promised $930 a match to the players, $1050 to the captains and paid only $350 this week.
- How' Larry writing checks for money he owes FIVE months late anything outstanding?

...The following, about how he was so brave and he doesn't make a dime, etc, etc... Is just absolute nonsense.

Just remember how everybody from the WPBL acted towards the industry when they thought they had any power. Just remember the words they chose, what they said. Now:

- We should all be thankful for them to finish a 7 weeks season with no further dates, no PR, no public payouts.
- Larry Chiborak is a hero because he actually paid his debts.

BONUS BALL BABY
Plenty to tackle here, but I will try. First of all, while I wasn't aware of claims of two years of financial information, I was told the job would last 26 weeks AND season two was to start shortly after. So yes, I moved out here under that hope and impression. My point is, I can't just go filing lawsuits or going to the labor board because that never panned out. Moving here was a risk I assumed to do something I thought was a worthwhile venture. I probably WOULD NOT have moved here if I knew it was going to last 6 weeks with a 4 month break. But I took that risk, I am here, and I am doing what I can to help make it work.
As for reduced pay, I don't know the details of player compensation. I just wanted to address Lee's claims. However, they want this project to work. So it would not surprise me if they had to settle for something less in the hopes of keeping this opportunity alive.
As for Larry, the man is passionate about this sport and badly wants to create something for the professional player. What is in his bank account or how he handles things I can't speak to. He has been up front with me and is trying and that's as much as I can ask.
Also, I am searching for the quote from someone else and will copy if and when I find it. But I did see it on a thread - just not this one.

If you or somebody needs to be reimbursed, please email me at stevewstrain@hotmail.com and I will pass that on and do my best to help you. It's not my area to handle, but I can find out who can for you. Sorry that happened.

Man, this is like a full-fledged World War in the pool industry. It affects so many facets, and I can understand the viewpoints from several of those facets.

First and foremost, I want to go on the record as saying I totally understand why the Bonus Ball players united together for the cause. The BCA has shut the door on them, more or less. Many regional tours have prohibited or banned them from competing in their events in the last few years. They need to eat, too, just like the rest of us.

However, when an loyal industry member, such as Greg Sullivan, reaches out to some of the players he has supported in the past with free perks and benefits, I think the Bonus Ball players who canceled out on Tunica and gave Greg Sullivan little to no respect have done a lot of damage to themselves.

It's all over now, water under the bridge, and the damage is done. The Bonus Ball players will not have as many events to compete in as previously, and if Bonus Ball doesn't find a funder, then where do we go from here?

Speaking from a damage control point of view, it's time to quit picking scabs, I guess. We need to move forward in the interest of survival, players and industry members alike, if you want pool to move forward. If not, if you'd like it to stay where it's at today, then let's continue to beat up the other side.

Good point. Very good point. Bonus Ball needs to address this matter.

Why not continue to beat up the other side when they flat-out robbed the players and their help?

Are you trying to say, "Ehhh... they robbed them a few months ago... it's time to move on and support Bonus Ball v2.0?"

....and the league has done it's best to compensate everyone in the hopes of building something.

i'm on your ass, cause you're the "Voice of BB" - no offense - this is business

1) if you had a contract @ $20K, and your net was $5K in cash/trade - would this be acceptible to you?

2) if you had a contract @ $26K+/+, and your net was $2K after o-o-p expenses to recoup - would this be acceptible to you?

3) if you had dropped $160 PPV & received $0-$12 worth (due to poor streaming & GOB) - would this be acceptible to you?

4) if you had booked a trip to LAS @ $1400, and had to EAT IT (due to GOB) - would this be acceptible to you?

Claim #4 is filed herein.

I'll leave the beating up to those who enjoy it. I would like to see all parties satisfied, but it ain't happening. There needs to be a compromise, so that pool has a chance to progress.

Good point. Very good point. Bonus Ball needs to address this matter.

So they need to address the matter of season ticket purchasers, but when Lee Brett is heisted, leveraged and blackmailed and forced to sleep in his car... he should suck it up and move on?

Compromise starts after they pay those who were air-barreled what is owed in full.

Twist my words another day. I'm not in the mood for a back-and-forth with you. I wouldn't want to anger you. Have a great day.

Send me an email to stevewstrain@hotmail.com as well. Let me know the situation and I will try to help. I have no idea what this is about but would love to learn.

....As always, if AZB was to receive something we would push it forward, mostly to help the players who have contributed a great deal to this venture by bringing attention to it. But so far, we've received 0 info.

BONUS BALL BABY

is that because AZB hasn't been PAID @ 360 arrears?
