Who would be interested in a book exchange? Would give some of us a chance to read some of the harder to find books. I can keep track of who has what and when if you all are interested.

I propose you tell me what you have and I will setup the exchange. If you both agree (this will keep the unsavory out of the exchange) then I let you both know that you have books that you each are interested in and let me know that the exchange happened.

If you all are interested for the harder to find books I will take donations (all open to the public) to purchase some of the harder to find books to put in the "Library".

BTW when all is said and done you should end up with your book back and we can have a drawing for the hard to find books.

Its ok. I sold my harder to find books ages ago but then again I had already read them.

I have around 5 or 6 of the more popular ones. But there maybe someone that has not read those that have ones that I have not read.
 
Johnny V, I love your idea but with all the stiffing going on, the cuemakers not fufilling and all the people who have been on here for years doing shady things, I don't think anyone would go for that idea. Confidence level is not real high at the moment.

I gave 2 of my books to someone on here. Sure I'd love to read Buddy's book, but I'm not paying ridiculous money for it

good idea...

I too, like your idea, Johnny V., but I wonder who would actually lend out these books that I would like to read:

1) Rags to Rifleman Buddy Hall
2) the book about Danny Dileberto
3) the book by Grady Matthews
 
i have a few lame stragglers like winning one pocket....shots moves and strategies, and 3 cusion strategy....

There has got to be a way to get this to work. I would hate to have say 20 people donate 10 bucks to buy a "donate library" copy of Rags to Rifleman to have someone pilfer it. Ideas?

Have a librarian who collects slightly more than the maximum value of any book from each member, say $300. Each member is allowed to have one book from the library at a time. If a member "loses" the book, he has to pay another $300 to get back into the library. If there is waiting list for a book, the current reader mails it to the next reader in line. Otherwise, the current reader mails the book back to the librarian. The members have to pay for the cost of postage, not the librarian. A book could only be kept for two weeks or a month if there's a wait for it or it's declared "lost."

The librarian uses the deposits to buy more books. If a member wants to leave, he gets some pro-rated part of the $300 back assuming it hasn't all been spent on books. Members could vote on which books to buy.

If someone with a large collection was the librarian, there wouldn't be many purchases necessary, but he might not want to keep doing the work or suffer the wear and tear on his collection.
 
Great idea, I had one AZer send me his Buddy Hall book, I read it and sent it back. Great deal for me, so there are some nice people on this site, not all bad folks. I have several books here, will let you know the title. I am wanting to read The Lions and the Lambs I think is the name of it. I will pm you with my list of books when I find them all.

I think it's a great idea in theory, but I wonder how practical it is. Just seems like an awful lot of work. To add a middle man to the equation seems to serve only to further complicate the process, not simplify it. Shipping charges doubled. Time of delivery is doubled or more. Just my opinion.

And Bob, I am an Amazon Prime member and I'll be downloading your book. Thanks for the head's up!

Great idea but how many in here do you think would pony up the 300 bones. I am guessing 2.

As for the shipping I don't see that it would be double. The person receiving the book would only pay double if it was coming from the library. If it was a list, as I am sure buddy's book would be, then you would only have to pay for shipping to send it to the next person. Oh and this would only be for the "library" books. For the books that others already have I would think the person still would have to pay for here and back as you wouldn't want to punish the person that is letting you borrow it.

I will post a separate poll to find out how many would be willing to do this.
