I see that the current snooker tournament, the Players' Championship, is sponsored by a used car sales company called Cazoo.

I'm pretty sure Matchroom & World Snooker can see the writing on the wall for bookie sports sponsorship and are quietly and slowly trying to branch out (there is a lot in the UK press at the moment about gambling advertising).
betting on individuals doesnt work unless the prize payouts are enormous so they wont dump. you can only do it on team sports.
thats why bookies would only take limited bets on boxing, unless it was big championship fights. and small bets on horses in less than major stake races.
no one in their right mind would put up lines on pool matches where you could get down any large amount of money.
as we have seen in the famous dumping of the vegas casino bosses. and that wasnt even large.

Managing it is a character thing, which is where the lines are drawn when it fits the purpose at hand.
Happen to catch a little more of the movie on TCM "The remains of the day". Haven't seen the whole movie yet, I did hear, see it mentioned of a billiard room.
I mention the movie because of the game that is in play, the stakes that are fixed and life itself.

Cazoo is a network in the auto industry similar to Amazon. It’s a big sponsor in the world’s most watched league...English Premier. Snooker is fortunate to land them as a sponsor.

The Puritans will kill the sports book sooner or later. It will then return to the underground mob and local action. No more title sponsors by the book.
In the meantime, Dafabet is sponsoring pool. I don't know if this is the first time for that or not...

They say that a lot of the money that powers pool gambling in America is from the bookies..... personally I feel that it was always comical to see pool events sponsored by poker tours as it is advertising on one indoor sport's events in an attempt to lure the "spending" crowd to spend their time and money on another indoor sport's events. Hey there, you can't ever win a major tournament in pool but you could win one on poker....come on in and let's get you started.
On the other hand people are going to gamble regardless and bookmaking is legal in some places so why not? Pretending that this aspect of life doesn't exist only makes the money stay underground.
