Boston IPT Qualifier

The ladies at the bottom of the staircase made an exception for smokers. :)

EDIT: In other words, smokers are allowed to get back in without having to pay again.

Whew! I hate to see all those smokers paying $100 per pack :D

p.s. Koop, 20 cigs per pack (Marl) bro. I suppose you gotta smoke 2 at a time if you're paying for each break though.

I know I would if they were charging me each time :-)

BTW, where are the brackets located?

Looky looky ... The unknown Hustler
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you guys notice that Gary Abood, The unknown Hustler, is in the tournament and will play Ronnie Wiseman in the second round if he wins
his first match?

Luat and Kirkwood will be a match to watch, as will Bennett and Takenaka..

I notice that too. He just beat Wiseman 10-4.

Also, I expected Country Club to charge admission...since that is what they did in the past at Joss finale events.

LOL!! I knew I should not have touched this thread.

If you had told me a year or two ago that: 1. Players from all over the world would be coming to a qualifier; 2. Playing 8-ball; 3. Forking over 2 grand with no normal payout structure, to qualify for a tour that;4. Hasn't actually started normal tournement play yet; 5. Players have to go through a very tough field to qualify; and 6. Spectators would be forking over 10.00 to watch a first-day qualifying event - I would have asked for some of whatever you were smoking. It's easy to forget how incredible this whole thing is and how quickly and thoroughly the IPT has taken root. I'm still kind of in a wait and see mode about the whole thing, but I got to give props to the IPT gang for doing something that would not have seemed possible less than a year ago.

Hey buddy,

Don't that let guy get to you. We all know his speed :D

Koop

Hope to see you both on Sunday.

Santos just lost to Tot 7-10.

Does anyone else feel for Santos? He's the only player in this situation...that he was actually picked as part of the original 150, but he still has to qualify because he was in the Philippines during the mandatory meeting in Orlando. But you got to ask the question...why didn't he just hitch a plane and make the meeting??

I really hope he works his way up the loser's side and gets his card...again.

I do feel bad for Santos but there are also about 2 dozen other players that I would love to see in the IPT.

Gotta root for Dan Wallace and Louis Ulrich. Hopefully Louis can come through the losers side and Dan can stay on the winners side and they can meet in the finals:) .

It seems like the loser side of the brackets on the IPT website is getting updated before the winner's side, because Foldes, Frost, Bennett, Boyes, Wiley, Sambajon, Wiseman, Hernandez and Ulrich all show up on the one-loss bracket, but show in the winners side as not having finished the set. Am I missing something?

I think you didn't read it right, he HAD a card but lost it due to missing the meeting. Can the other 2 dozen players say that? There are lot's of people that SHOULD be in the IPT and guess what? If they are as good as we think they are they WILL be in the IPT since they will earn their spot irrespective of what they have to do to qualify.

My 2 picks for the tourney are, Eric H and Thomas E. The 2 best players in the tourney.

The meeting was mandatory and there were a few players that were 'excused', like Paul Potier and Santos and that snooker guy ;) who were all out of the country.

What made him lose his card was that he did not return his player agreement back in time, and I heard that there was plenty of warning. Paul managed to get his back in. I too feel badly for Sonny. If I had known, I would have given him a call and gotten it done for him. :(

I just took a look at the brackets. Anyone else notice the draw on the first half of the A bracket is alphabetical??? That is weird!
