This qualifier looks like one of the toughest so far. With the likes of Engert, Foldes, Sparky, Breedlove, Frost, Hemmah, Hernandez, Heuwagen, Hjorlison, Joyner, Kiamco, Kirkwood, Saez, Sambajon, CJ, Wiseman, and Wu.
It's good to see Beau Runningen in there as well.

Frost vs Hemmah
Joyner vs Foldes
Wow what match ups in the first round!

Fourth IPT Qualifier to Begin

Friday, February 24, 2006 - 10:15 a.m. (PST)
.

Country Club USA in Chelmsford, MA, is the site of the fourth IPT qualification event, being held this weekend. A total of 76 players are ready to go, the biggest turnout yet. Luckily, there are 16 Brunswick Gold Crowns in operation, with the first round beginning momentarily.

The international flavor is even more prevalent than before, with players such as 8-ball champion Sandor Tot of Hungary; straight pool player and Player of the Year for 2004, Thomas Engert of Germany; New Jersey room owner and another straight pool player Jose Garcia; Kevin Becker, who ran seven racks in competition against Mike Sigel at the Atlanta qualifier; Americans Dave Hemmah, Dan Wallace, George Breedlove, Scott Frost, Ronnie “Everything’s Funny When You’re Winning Big Money” Wiseman, Frankie Hernandez, and Louis Ulrich; and Filipino stars Ramil Gallego, Warren Kiamco and Santos Sambajon Jr.

There is no word yet on whether tour founder Kevin Trudeau will be here for the last IPT qualifier in the U.S., but rumor has it that Mike “The Mouth” Sigel will be here, playing challenge matches with eliminated players hoping to earn that last free entry fee.

Visit the IPT for the latest news on their ongoing qualifying event.

Will Stop by tomorrow

Man I just can't wait to check out the action.

I was planning to play but for some reason I could not find my 2 grand :)

I think they are charging $ 10 for spectators...Did other pool halls charge?

No biggie...I am still going.

Guys i'm pretty confused here...

This event is starting in Chelmsford today and will be running all weekend?

Is there a schedule up?

thanks!

Looky looky ... The unknown Hustler

Did you guys notice that Gary Abood, The unknown Hustler, is in the tournament and will play Ronnie Wiseman in the second round if he wins
his first match?

Luat and Kirkwood will be a match to watch, as will Bennett and Takenaka..

Bottom side of Bracket B

The winner's B bracket has been drawn and names filled in.

WOW the bottom half of Bracket B is LOADED. I'm guessing whoever makes it out of there has a great shot at a tour card.

super tough field...can't wait until we get the IPT events going...wow...the players just keep coming

I just went over to Country Club for my lunch break (very close to where I work) to see if I can get a sneak peak at some of the action. I was disappointed to find out that there's a $10 admission fee per day, and you can't leave the pool hall at all or you'll forfeit your entire admission for the day. If you do leave, you'd have to pay another $10 to get back in.

That kinda stinks. So I wasn't able to see anything just now. I guess I'll try my luck tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind spending the $10 but what about the smokers? There must be somewhere designated otherwise $10 per smoke break would get awfully expensive, not that the habit isn't to begin with.

The ladies at the bottom of the staircase made an exception for smokers. :)

EDIT: In other words, smokers are allowed to get back in without having to pay again.

Wu just lost to Ruby 6-10.

What's up with Wu?

Now THAT'S funny, someone can't lose a match without something being wrong? I don't care if he is world class talent, the balls roll funny for everybody kid.
