bought a gc. need info on moving. please help!

The journey has begun. i started by removing all the metal trim from the rails and ball return box. here are some pictures. some of the pics of the trim make it look worse than it is, but it is still bad enough that i'm having them redone as well. The were a NIGHTMARE to remove. they were shot in with a nail gun. grrr.

was the trim in really bad shape that it needed to be taken off? if not why did you take it off? :confused:
 
i also removed the score counters for refinish, but forgot to take pictures of them. tricky little buggers to get out if you haven't done it before. took me 10 minutes to figure the damn things out.

sorry about the small pictures. i'll make them bigger in the future.

i'm going to restore the whole table. when i'm done it will look brand new. the trim was scratched up enough that it would have driven me crazy knowing that i could have done it and didnt.

just wondering. i bought a gc3 earlier this year that was made in 77. metal along the rails were in fantastic shape and i did not take them off. I powder coated all of the other metal parts a maple bronze color.

edit: I had jzmechanix do subrails on my table with the diamond black cushions. plays real well and banks true.

very nice! that is what im planning to do as well. going to try to get as close to the original copper color as i can.

if you dont mind me asking, what did you pay to have the powder coating done?

had all the feet, corner castings, ball box cover and rail counters for around 250. im sure it will be more with the ball box and rail pieces though. I tried looking for a copper color online through different manufacturers and just could not find anything that matched. either it was too "peachy" or "flesh" colored.

i was also thinking tonight that my current three bulb table light that is over my 8 foot table might not be good enough for this table. I still have some oak in the garage leftover from when i built my bar a few years ago. i think im going to take a shot at building a nice table light.

shop around for powder coaters. let me know if you find a powder that you think matched as well. i couldnt find one but i love the way mine turned out.

you never know about the light. i use 4 4ft lights and it works perfect over my table. all the bulbs are side by side as well.

looks real orange by the bolt holes. if you meet with a powder coater he should have samples like paint samples of what the finish result will look like. put them up against the pieces you have and see what you like. check out my album to see pics of my table. i really wanted to find a nice copper color but i just could not find one that wouldnt look odd. went a different route and love it. :)

edit: if you email brunswick and tell the the hhk on the bottom of your rails they will tell you what year it was made.

how do i look at your album?
 
be careful when you take the front plates off of the ball boxes. keep all of the nails! i used a small pry bar and stuck all of nails in a ziploc bag.

also when taking apart the rail counters, just slide the rod out (might have tape on the ends) carefully as the wheels will pop off. underneath the wheels are small steel balls with springs. stick all of those in a zip log bag as well. I cleaned the wheels with soap and water and used a qtip to rub them clean.
 
couple of questions...

did gold crown III's have the hide away trim panels underneath that I see on some other GC pics on the internet?

does anyone know the name of the font that brunswick uses? (the font that looks like the letters are kind of blocks, and the B and the K are a little bigger than the rest of the letters.
