bought a gc. need info on moving. please help!

Replacement Parts:

Ken Hash, Perry Hall MD Classic Billiards http://www.classicbilliards.net/html/gold_crown_medalist_parts.cfm

You could get lucky and find what you need on Ebay also for the metal castings. You can either, replace them, paint them, or powdercoat them.

As far as cushions, Brunswick standard cushions are a K55 profile, and are called Brunswick SuperSpeed. IMHO there are nothing either Super or Speedy about them. I had Artemus Intercontinental K55 cushions installed on my gold crown this past October, and the difference between them and Brunswicks cushions are night and day.

Mark Gregory offers a service in which he will redo your rails, if you ship them to him. He will be tune your rails to match the cushions perfectly and also make your pocket opens whatever you want without having to build it up with shims.

John Burns (Scruffy) in these forums is a great table mechanic in MD. Look into him too.

RealKingCobra did my table rebuild, and it plays fantastic, give me a call and come over sometime so you can see what a Gold Crown done right plays like.

Does anyone happen to know what type of rail rubber i should go with? also, what type did it originally have if different than your suggestions.

+1 on the Artemis Intercontinental rubber.

And I ordered mine from Ken Hash, right there in MD, as Tony mentioned.

If it were me, here's what I would do.

I'd send Mark Gregory the rails to calibrate with new Artemis installed. I'd have him set it up for 4 1/2" corners.

Then I'd have Scruffy set the table up for me.

Then I'd buy a six pack & invite a buddy over to hit some balls.

Then I'd go to bed happy as could be knowing I got an incredible playing GC for a song. :thumbup:

Whoa, hold up. The next thing you need to do is call the best table mechanic you can find and HE will take care of the cushions. It's one thing for you to repaint a corner casting it's quite another if you start setting up this thing yourself just because you're "handy". Congrats on a killer deal on the table btw :)

oh god no!!! im not going to be doing anything with cushions or cloth or anything. i was talking about aesthetics only.

Here is my only before picture of the table. the cloth was actually a little dirtier than it looks in this pic, but overall this is what it looked like before i broke it down for the move home.

The best price on Artemis is going to be from Diamond since they are the sole importer now... It should be somewhere between 275 and 325..... I'd go ahead an order the cloth and rail rubber from them so you can save on shipping and have it on hand so you know you won't have to wait on it.....
 
Setting up the table is not just about putting the pieces where they go... Leveling a slate and seeming it properly is pretty close to an art... Since your table came out of a room it has likely had a bunch of reclothing done among other things... One of the biggies is going to be to see what condition the ends of the rails are in... When the cheap insert pockets break they start screwing screws into all sorts of places they shouldn't go......

As far as the rubber it's not about the cutting so much as the prep work to true the rails before the new rubber is glued to it... Some mechanics have jigs todo it on site some take it to the shop... He may also redo the subrails if you are wanting to tighten the pockets up...

You got the table for a steal but you should expect to spend over 1000 on the rails, cloth and mechanic work if not more depending on what needs to be done to get the thing back into fighting shape....

Real King Cobra is the best table mechanic in the United States.

He redid my gold crown 2 months ago and he specified to use the Artemis rubber.

Also in this thread, Tony in MD mentioned the same thing.

Are you still looking into which rubber to get? :confused:

the thing is, if getting rkc to come set my table up isnt an option, then i want to CONSIDER rubber options that will not require an adjustment to the sub rails, before i purchase anything.

The posts on the artemis rubber did NOT go unnoticed. just trying to evaluate options.
