That would be awesome if they posted the brackets today, I just checked their site and there is nothing up yet but I will definitely be frequently checking throughout the day.

It should be fun. Group 5 looks the toughest to me. That will be a real battle to come in the top three there. Group 3 is no cakewalk either. And Group 4 is not so easy either. Now that I keep looking all the groups are pretty tough.

There will be some sleepless nights ahead for the players. And a lot of practice.

I upgraded my ticket to VIP so I can be right there and see it all up close.

Woohoo! Looks like it will be intense! I think the toughest bracket is number 3 and yes, they are all going to be extremely difficult to break into the top 3. Of course, the true test will be which group Efren gets put in!

I think the players in green will advance to level B, not easy to pick and I did go with a few personal favorites:) Group 5 does look like like the hardest, group 3 looks like a lock for Corey,Earl & Mika, although John is good straight pool player and might beat out Corey.

So Mike Sigel is guaranteed at least $100,000??? WOW he must be on cloud 9 right now. That's pretty cool...if you win a tournament, you get the 1st prize money for that, and then you are guaranteed at least 2nd place money in the following tournament.....so in reality Mike won at minimum $250,000 beating Loree Jon Jones!!!!

You think Mike has a big smile on his face, then what about Lorree John Jones?

If she doesn't advance in the first round then she will receive a payday of $6200. That added to the $75,000 she received for losing to Mike will give her $81,200. All for losing.

Now that is a historic event. When did you ever hear of a pool player getting paid for not winning and he wasn't scamming someone?

Groups 3 and 4 look much harder than the other three.

I reckon Allsion Fisher is better than 50% to get out of Group 2 and Karen Corr is about 35% to get out of Group 1.

Most intriguing match of the first round robin - defintiely Allsion Fisher vs Ronnie O'Sullivan

Let the games begin. Looks like a great event.

Actually Loree Jon Jones will get 30,000 just for showing up, all the HOF's get 30,000 no matter what.

What a fantastic field!

Can't wait to be there...the worst part will be wanting to follow all the games at the same time I expect, and hence, not really following many of them in detail.

My Picks ...

My picks are above in Red.
Group 1 - To not pick Van Den Berg would be a mistake. Track record here.
Corr will fail on safeties and kicks.
Group 2 - The Duchess of Doom will make it.
O'Sullivan a good showing, but not there yet.
Group 3 - Pretty much a given.
Group 4 - Double J is tougher here than people realize.
His 8 ball experience will win out over Manalo.
Robles is a little bit of question mark because of 14.1 abilities
Group 5 Actually I see Keith and Shawn as a toss-up (Shawn's powerful
breaking ability).
Gabe will beat out Charlie, guarantee it.

Some great match ups, and I have to agree with SJM that Ronnie v Allison catches the eye.

Both English ex snooker world champs and dominated snooker
Allison dominates 9 ball but they will play 8 ball
Man v Women ;-)

However I don't think this is the strongest group and I would be suprised if Ronnie qualified (pleasently of course ;-). I think group 5 is without question the strongest group, with 4 a close second.

Group 4 is going to be really tough, I feel sorry for Helena because she really doesn't have much of a chance of making out of this group. Allison vs Ronnie will be a great match, two world snooker champs locking horns in eight ball!
I really like El Nino to make it out of group one, he plays some killer eight ball and should surprise some people.

I pretty much agree on most of your picks except not picking Manalo. Manalo will go deep in this tournament. Filipinos are much better 8-ballers than 9-ballers. If I am not mistaken, Manalo is runner-up to Efren Reyes in last years World 8-ball competition at Fujaraih(wrong spelling??). I wouldn't be surprise if Reyes, Parica, Manalo and Bustamante will be among the last eight.

All of these groups are awesome, baby. And I know I didn't pick any women, but I don't think they're there. If I were to pick one woman to make it out of group one, I'd go with Karen Corr.

And any of the guys can win this event. It's tough not to say that Allen Hopkins will make it through his group. What an unbelievable all-around player he is. And 8-ball I think suits him more than some of the other players. And yet, I'm not picking him. Crazy.

My picke is still Manalo.

Does anyone know for sure if Ronnie is playing?

From an article found on in the IPT news section.
O'Sullivan jumps ship to play pool over the pond
10/10/05
Guardian Unlimited © Guardian Newspapers Limited 2005
"O'Sullivan cannot play in the opening event because it clashes with the play-offs for Sky's Betfred Premier League, which he won last year, but expects to make his debut in Orlando, Florida, immediately after his defence of the Masters title at Wembley in January."

I'm very surprised you left Manalo out of the top three in this group. Sure it's a tough group, but don't forget who was runner up to Efren last year in the World 8 Ball Championships.
