Brain syschrony

Looks somewhat like snake oil to me. :D

On the other side of the coin, I have wondered if the physical shape of the player would contribute to poor play, but I've seen some pretty hefty and, shall I say, robust shooters who can execute a flawless performance when in competition.

How do you recognize a player who shoots pool full time for a living? By looking at their hands, the calluses on the inside of their thumbs! :D

I am not selling this, but I found it very interesting reading. Personally, to me this relates to how to get the mind to concentrate better. I can just see all of the pros listening to these CDs while playing.

Warning - A long read.

Tell me what you think. WW

Not a long read at all, perhaps I understand why you might need this now :D

Anyway, the text is pure marketing ... how the heck do they know how the brain of Einstein and Mozart worked ? At least the research topics were somewhat identified, and the Scientific American article might shed more light on this topic. While WW is asking about an $80 CD, the site also has an article titled "Exclusive : Cancer 'MAGIC BULLET' discovered in the Amazon ... but drug giant hushes it up ! " which sounds like it was written by someone from the National Enquirer. They also sell an "amazing pain eraser" which is a "natural flower extract", they claim it is "powerful" ... I wonder if they got this stuff from poppys ?

Dave, who's just telling WW what I think

That's for sure...along with a callus on the middle finger of their bridge hand from the thumb rubbing up and down to form the bridge. (I ain't doin' it for a living, but still have some rock hard big calluses in all those areas)

That's not pool, dude.

I think most of this stuff, including "subliminal" tapes, has a placebo effect, meaning that if you believe it helps, then it actually does. :p

Well, in general subliminal messages do work. You can't dismiss it altogether because you must appreciate the fact that it has yet to be done correctly. I've never tried it for my pool game (nor do I plan to) and although people have talked about creating their own subliminal tapes, I kinda view that as voodoo. I mean, you're not supposed to be aware, right? Wouldn't that be as difficult as tickling oneself?

I don't dismiss it at all...the positive placebo effect is exactly the same as the positive effect of the non-placebo. In fact, I got a "subliminal" cd on ebay for pool and play it while I'm surfing the net or playing online poker at home. It's a "stormy day" type with rain and thunder...and while I don't really see any difference in my game because of it, the sounds are relaxing and it can't hurt anything to listen to it. This is not a placebo effect I'm referring to, because I don't really have faith in it. But if someone does believe it, and they receive benefit from it, then it works. Maybe you should try it, seeing that you believe that it works...it probably will! :p

It has to be...I can't do it with that hand. ;)
You can.
Consult with Whitewolf on how to harness the left side of your brain.
The right side is useless anyway. :D :p

It mentioned one study, but gave no details or references to it...that's a red flag, for sure. I can't take hype like that anymore, either.
