Prather and Atlas dun't have them.
Are we hosed?

He's working on something "big" for some type of industry. I don't know any specifics but last time I spoke with him, he was very busy with something else & until it was finished he wouldn't have time for cue building stuff. Hope that helps.

Great, I guess I'm hosed for a while. I don't like the imports .

Joey....not as cheap as you like...but I bet Hightower still has some in stock.
You are right. I have them in stock in brass.

I make my own. I sent one off to get copied & mass produced & am awaiting the production. It'll sure save me some time not having to make them.

I had a thousand brass ball screws made a few years ago. They are exact copies down to about .0005. Since then the price of metal has escalated but I got them for less than 10 cents on the dollar for what Atlas was charging.

I buy the bullet nose 3/8-10 pins from Atlas sometimes for very basic cues. Even those are costly for what they are, but I buy so few that it's ok. Their pins similar to what I make are $10 each. I make them for pennies, not considering my time.

I've never made pins to use in a cue. I've made some drive pins for odd ball threads but that's it. I was buying the Radial pins for 12 to 15.00 depending on the material. I was told that the radial pin had a odd thread and I would never figure it out but I found a place with 3 CNC machining centers and a large digital comparator. They put in one of the pins I had brought along and it took them about 10 seconds to come up with the exact pitch, radius, thread count and all else needed to produce them. They ordered the brass, the cutters with the exact form needed and drew up the program. There was an automatic feeder on the end of the machine that fed 10 ft long rods. The machine cut threads on both ends, the glue end .010 smaller for glue relief, trued the barrel, put a center in the end and cut the pin off where it dropped into a container completely ready to go. It made a pin every 42 seconds. I paid 1200.00 for 1048 pins.

That's amazing, simply amazing. It takes me 5-10 minutes to cut the threads on a brass pin, then another minute polishing.
