Brickyard Billiards in Indianapolis.....Bar Table 9 ball Classic

Great tourny

This is this best tourny! I was there for the whole weekend. Dindt play well but still had great time took my 7 year old with me and after we got home she said daddy when we going back two the Brickyard WOW !!! she loved it. I must say I have been playing for over 15 years and that was one of the strongest fields i have seen, even the woman players WOW they played well. I will be at the next one for sure. Does the Carom Room peel 10 percent?

Sam,

As pointed out by Stake Horse they did take out $1600 (64 x 25 greens fee). You had $4800 taken in minus $1600 (greens) plus $1500 added gives you the $4700 in tourney payouts.

Is the $1500 really added money? Depends on who you ask. You could say they deserve the greens fee or you could say they charged the players $100 to play the tourney (4800 in only 4700 out).

The calucutta is whole different issue. If you get a great auctioneer who generates extra cash it is probably worth paying (peeling) the 10% in my mind. Sounds like Brian did a great job from all accounts so he (or they) earned the money.

Good field, good numbers so everyone is probably happy either way. What would people be doing if they didn't have this tourney?

The terms "added " or "guaranteed" money have always been subject for discussion in the pool world. Feel free to check with Grady

From everything I read, you guys have great calcuttas, does the Carom Room pull 10 percent from the calcutta too? It is not a big deal for me, as like has been said. Most, calcutta auctioneers pull 10 percent, but I think 15 is excessive.

No, nothing is ever taken out of the calcutta at the Carom Room. Dave Coles, the owner, runs a great calcutta and provides his services free of charge!

Like I said earlier, a great calcutta person earns their keep. Brian did a great job here with over $200/player average and a 10% "peel" should be no problem to anyone.

You are making the assumption that Brian got the 10%

If someone has contact info for Brian, PM me. I have an offer for him as well.

Is the schedule for this fall out?

No, I'm not naive.

Have you created the 2010 Carom Room Tourney schedule yet?

If not, can you create a link to it when it is done?

Thanks

Did Brian get the 10 percent? That is funny. Probably got his entry paid.

When you think about it, Brian has finished well into the money each time so it benefits him as much as anyone to pump up the calcutta.

I want to post a picture of the brackets it shows all of the matches with scores of each. I m going to try to post it now the image is too large for AZ but I will try to embed a link to other site.
