Bridge Phobia

I'd rather use my right hand or behind the back than use a bridge. My Mate and I are gonna start playing one game a day with a bridge. Every shot after the break. Foul on all balls.

I've always heard that smacking a little kid upside the head with a cue stick would cure that phobia .

I guess it didn't work for you ;)!!!

I would much rather use the bridge than shoot left handed. I am short so I need to use it fairly often. I had a phobia about the bridge but I concentrated on getting used to it. It was a very valuable skill to develope.

I think practicing how to use the bridge is a good idea, playing a entire game with it though is a different story. Just be careful that you don't pick up bad habits.

playing with the bridge isnt as hard as it first appears. A good tip is to lay the butt end of the bridge flat on the table, then put the palm of your hand on top of it and apply strong downward pressure. This does two things, it stops the bridge head moving and keeps you still on the shot.

Allison Fisher has a video somewhere explaining how to use the bridge which was excellent.

I believe the reason a lot of players are poor with the bridge is because when they are practicing they are too lazy to take the time to bend down and get it. I've seen a couple high profile matches decided by a guy not using the bridge and missing a shot while stretched out over the table awkwardly. Bustamante in the finals of the world championship 3 or 4 years ago comes to mind.
