Brilliant gamesmanship or D@$K move?

I played in a 10$ race to 4 8ball tourney, I won lag, ran out 1st two racks and pinched my shape on the 8ball the 3rd game. After my missed jump for the 3rd win, I laughed and racked the balls. My opponent looked confused as I told him "you got this they're all wide open" he broke and missed his 3rd or 4th ball and I ran out, then I dry broke and he missed his 2nd or 3rd ball and I finished the match. My reasoning for giving him the game was to keep him from getting into stroke on a wide open table. Now praise or flame me! Was it a dick move??? Remind you I was nothing but kind to him and did nothing to shark him. Some ppl give the last ball if it's easy, I gave him all eight.

There was a match streamed a while ago kurt england vs. Marty something. This kurt guy did it constantly, very unsportsmanlike.

Yeah,,,,,,,,,, I started thinking it might of been a dick move afterwards. Won't do that again, but I do concede the 8or9 regularly if it's easy, UNLESS the match is decided on it. Lesson learned thanks AZ'ers

It was a dick move. Once you miss, you have no right to do anything at the table. It isn't up to you to decide if he should shoot or not...it is his turn.

You should have been penalized.

No good. I like the tournaments that don't allow concessions of any kind.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but it's not that big a deal to me. If I was the other guy, I woulda just accepted the free game. Lol

Lesson learned! It bothered me later, I realized it might have been a dick move afterwards,
On the other hand people concede the last ball in 9 or 10 ball all the time in money matches or tournaments. I don't see too many complaints about that.
Is there a line about how many balls you can concede?

To me one ball is a sign of respect, what I did was a strategic move to keep opponent from shooting. Maybe considerd a shark to a lessor mentally strong player.i don't normally act like that nor do I condone that behavior! I really thought it was a dick move after the win. As I thought about it, a little bit of me said no big deal but still felt shady about it!

+1. a $10 race to 4 is in no way a "pro" level event. everyone is so serious. Even if it was for 10K, it's still a free game. take it all day long.

and if that's considered sharking, then people have no concentration or just want something to gripe about.

I'm with ya too - free game is fine with me or making me shoot a 1'shot with the OB hangin - don't care either way. Respect is something you give your parents.

Quit getting all tied up in this "sharking" BS and you won't give a crap what anybody else does.

Sharking only exists in your opponents mind, remember that, and you'll never be sharked again!

As far as how YOU feel, I can't help you, but don't beat yourself up over it. Sounds like he wouldnt have gotten out anyway - quit doing your opponents favors:thumbup:

Wouldn't bug me, I'd like the free game and chance to break. Figure I can break, make a couple of balls and play a safe or run out.

crazy move

20 yrs ago living in arizona a road player comes in and plays andy scott, every time the missed just racked balls and gave up game forgot who won, craziest shit i saw. eventually the got into fight and andy beat him up out side

If Earl is in the mood and he misses the 3-ball he might rake the rest of the rack, then he might do it again the next game...and the next game. But if he runs out he will keep playing till he misses, then he might miss and rake the balls conceding another game. You might even win the set without making a ball or you might lose the set, at that point do you think it's brilliant or a dick move?
