This was one of my first cue. Cue #23 is my guess.

I sold this to a friend my first year of building. We were playing a fun ring game for $1 on the 5/9 and he missed a shot. He hits the cue on the ground.

I've fixed it twice for free and I think I'll charge him this time. The second time I fixed it I wanted to use a Phenolic butt cap. After a long talk he promised not to slam the cue again and I installed the Coco again. Against his wishes I'll use Phenolic this time.

Most of my first 50 cues were sold to friends or people that live in Spokane. I see them whenever I go out. They love them and I hate them. The short points, fat rings, and strange wood combos say nothing but beginner builder.

New builders:
Make the points long!
Thin petite rings look better.
Line up the rings.
Use woods that are proven to look good in a cue.

I had a customer bring me a branch from a Cedar tree in his yard. If we had an ugly cue contest this cue could win. I hate it when somebody start talking about my cues and he pulls this cue out. The ugly ones will haunt you.

I can guarantee you are not the only one.I treat mine better than than my kids:grin-square:(almost).If I hit my cue aginst the floor like that every time I mised a ball I'd do it about 8 times a game(if I'm playing 9 ball)and if I bumped mine aginst the table I'd be ready to tear the table down:grin:

Yup, phenolic would be the way to go for this guy. A Bilstein or Rancho shock absorber would probably help too

I would also suggest charging full price for the repair.

Make sure he knows up-front that he will be paying this time, if you haven't already. I'd hate to see you fix it AGAIN and have him not come through with payment. Just materials alone is adding up at this point...

Perhaps also tell him if he breaks it again, you will not be able to fix it and he will have to have an entire new cue made (at current prices) because it will be beyond salvage (which we know is false, but he deoesn't)

How is the hit/sound/performance of this cue being affected with all these reworks on it? Just curious- you don't often have the same cue repaired several times over....

If you want to stop people from doing this to there cue's do what I did to my current player:

Nitre Glycerin bumper, I hit it, I'm dead. Problem averted, or atleast future problems.
