I see some sugar and mineral in those shafts. They are rejects for sure. Please send them to me so I can dispose of them properly.......right next to these.

Tucker,

You need to send those dowels you have hanging. You told me you don't like brown shaft woods you like them white .

Hi,

Very nice indeed.

Do they weigh more than 10 oz @ 1" dia. x 30" in length?

Rick

Of the 10 I just weighed, 9.25 was the low and the high was 10.5.
Mostly around 9.7-10.2 area.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
But, they are heavier than the usual Canadian and Michigan suppliers I've bought from.

Farfromfugly. Out of 100 or so dowels that I have on hand, I might have a couple or three that look like those.

Hi Joe,

Those should produce some monsters!!!! BTW, I like Fugly ugly ducklings for players. They are many times the best playing wood. To hell with Snow White (they are great for cues that go into a safe and are not played), give Snow White the poison apple.:smash:

Shafts

Murray Tucker,
I noticed that your hanging shafts are arranged in four groups. Are they arranged by sizes or ring count or diameters or weights or when they were rotated last??? Just being nosey??? I usually take the time to write the last cut date and ring count on the shafts I turn. I also cherry pick out what I consider the best for my higher end cues and move them to a better hiding place???

The ones to the right are at .020 over size, matched up in pairs and sorted from lightest to heaviest. When I match them up I mark them with a letter and a number and the ring count at the tip end. That way I know to use up the "a"s first and so on. The ones to the left of that are also at .020 over but they don't have a match yet. I try to match by weight, ring count and general appearance. The next group is at .030 over and finally the last spot is where cones go. Right now they are in boxes because I've been too lazy to hang them up.
