Brunei prince buys private pool table for Asia Games

I really admire his dedication to the game and his willingness to play in tournaments. For someone of his stature, this is pretty risky, even with armed bodyguards.
:p

With a potential wealth of $22 billion (that's a lot of digits), he could be Pool's biggest savior if he chose. Can you imagine the major tournaments he could organize?

He could take the IPT model, but perhaps quintuple it in size/scale for each tournament, and actually pay the players at the end. There would be a lot of comfortable & happy pool players...

Back to reality...

I heard Ruffa Gutierrez was her rack girl.

This dude is living it. Too bad he can't run 3 balls.

I have to ask.

I have to ask; what kind of cue does a billionaire play with. Is it one of yours Joey???:D :D

Funny -- a few days ago I spoke with John Parris about how my custom pool-cue was coming about, and he told me that I'd soon be in the good company of the Brunei Prince who he just made a similar cue for ;^)

$22 billion eh? Doesn't the N.C.A.P.B.A. claim to have $22 million in escrow funded by an undisclosed source? 0.1% seems like an awfully round number to me. ;) :D

I think he most certainly could run more than 3 balls? comeon, he has the money for the best of the best in billiards instruction.. If he fails, so do they.. Id like that kind of challenge, but thats not going to happen, so he can spend the next 20 years at the table eating away at himself, I think this shows No two people learn alike, and you must be flexable with your thinking to tailor your instruction to the individual.

I feel anyone trying to help this guy first would have to deal with the intimidation factor, then forget it, and treat this guy like a pool player, he would proboly throw me out, because Id make him work. Id find what he is good at, and hammer it, Id find what he is weakest at, and hammer it, having fun in the process, but its all work just the same... Then you play him like he stole your money, gain his respect, and then once he buckles and submitts he will learn and be a devistating opponet.

How do I know this? well think, he has everything, but likes to play.. he enters tournaments for the thrill, he doesnt need the money, and doesnt want to even pose a threat to the top players. He is just there to be there, you kick his azz in private enough to spark his pride, then your are going to be up against the man, not the stature.

He had a table installed in his hotel likely so that he would look good in front of the camera, not so he could whip up on a top player.

If Im wrong Im wrong, when it comes to reading people useualy im pretty acurate..

I watched him play in Manila, but I didn't get close enough to tell what kind of cue it was. Looked very fancy, I think 8? ivory points. Maybe a pfd?

Joey, you should know better than to mention a female name and not post a link or pic...

i think if he were more accesible at tourneys he could be treated as one of the guys and he would in turn be more likely to pour some money into the game
