Brunswick GC 4 -- Bronze corner castings

I will soon be getting my GC 4 and was told by the seller that the bronze corner castings show some wear.

Classicbilliards.net has sets available for exchange but it seems pricey at ~$450 with the core exchange. Apparently they have found the OEM vendor that applied the finish originally. They said that for home use, wear would most likely not be a problem.

Does anyone have another option that is less costly and still looks good?

Also looking for Tournament sticker/decal set if anyone has one?

I had some stuff plated in nickel and it was less that a hundred bucks and took a week to have done. I would take them to someone that does plating. You would then have many options of chrome, nickle, copper etc. Myself I like the chrome on the newer GCs.

Thanks for the ideas.

Does anyone know if the bronze is an anodized finish?

I can make you some stickers. Let me know what you would like. I did mine and they turned out pretty well.

Powder coating is about $110.00 Very durable but not an exact match. We have had good luck painting them with a custom blended automotive paint then clear coating with a ceramic-clear coat. very durable and almost an exact color match.

Powder Coating

I took my GC1 corner castings to a powder coater. The castings were in bad shape- pitted and banged-up and the aluminum was tarnished big time.

The powder coater bead blasted then painted with metallic silver then oven baked. The coating is durable and beautiful.

I paid $175 total. The Real King Cobra thought they were really great! So you could ask him to verify.

Hope this helps!

Powder Coating Services in Greenville, MI has done GC corners for a bunch of my customers. They have the story down and are quick and reasonable. They can do a clear coat over the metallic and it's nothing short of amazing. Number is 616 754 2229

Thanks for all of the excellent ideas.

I have ended up getting a GC4 that is close to perfect -- corner problem solved.

The one in Belding or Greenville? I live 15-20 minutes south west of Greenville? Rock and Sons is the outfit out of Belding.

I have a friend that has a GC4 and wants to refinish his bronze castings. What is involved on removing them? Can I just take the castings off? Are they held together by allen bolts? Can I leave the skirt on? Thanks Mitch

Take the pocket out, then using a 1/2" wrench remove the 20 bolts that mount the castings to the rails, then lift out the pocket castings:smile:
