Has anyone seen or better yet played on the latest version of the Brunswick Gold Crown. Would like to know your thoughts on the table and how it compares to the other versions like the Gold Crown 3 and 4.
Thanks
Kevin

I think it's the best designed Gold Crown so far, much better than the 3's or 4's, not even close with the 1's or 2's either. But, same cushions as the 4's, same leg pedestals. Pocket castings have been changed a LOT, but have to be made to fit by a mechanic if they're going to fit right, but the mechanic better know what he's doing!! Best slate frame Brunswick has ever made. Slates are the same as the 4's, leveling system is the same as well.Kevin Lindstrom said:Has anyone seen or better yet played on the latest version of the Brunswick Gold Crown. So, it plays just like a 1,2, 3, or 4, depending on who sets it up![]()

The design flaw in the GC4's is in the frame rails. Then end frame rails are attached to the side frame rails with dowels and a single bolt at each corner. The problem is that if you use any kind of shims or the Brunswick leveling bolts on the end frame rail, no matter how much you tighten the frame bolts, it'll still sag over time, causing the slates to drop down at the foot and head rails, making the table appear to play high in the middle. What you have to do to fix this design problem, is lag bolt some 1/4" x 2' L channel to the side frame rails, extending the channel out far enough so that it supports the end frame rail, then it's fixed permanently. As soon as I deliver and setup Fatboy's GC4 at Freds house on my way to the factory, I'll post pictures of the fix so everyone can see. This support fix can be done to GC4's that are already set up and playing, as there is no need to take the table apart to support the end frame rails.Fatboy said:cushions seem softer, also seems like you can push a ball deeper into them and beet the kiss on banks. I say "seems" because mine is brand new and I never playhed on a new table before, perhaps the rubber will stiffen up a bit, I know its B-Wick Super Speed and should play the same as on a 4, but for now the rubber is softer.
the frame is much better Glen didnt say why, he should with pics, there is a major design flaw on the 4 he discovered, and only 2 triangle shaped pieces of wood hold the ends up on the table(here comes the chit hitting the fan:thumbup: ) I didnt say nuting til now, but i'm in a foul mood after betting on the wrong guy in the final tonight, and I lost to a guy who I like to especially win $$$ from, so it really pissed me off.
so Glen tell'em about what you found...
