Mr. Jerry Rauenzahn does amazing restoration work. Just got back one of my prized Brunswick cues. Everything on this cue is original, except the ivory ring on the shaft joint where it was cracked and in need of repair. The wedge is in perfect condition with an original bumper. Notice the original brass pin. Ivory on the butt is also original. Check out how the points all line up when cue is together. Wood looks to be Purpleheart in lower butt section, then Brazilian Rosewood???, and possibly Padauk or Shibadan on the shaft???. The first butterfly splice has 5 veneers, the rest have four veneers. Cue weighs about 19.0 oz and hits very solid for being almost 100 years old. Just imagine the history this cue has seen.

Thanks for looking,
John Marshall

Yes, however todays Brunswick is much different.:(

That is one excellent cue, and the restoration/refinish looks top shelf.

I have to ask cause of my ignorance, isn't a cue like that worth more to collectors in orginal condition and not restored?

I would certainly have paid much more if all original not needing some repairs, but sometimes you are lucky to get what you get. However how many have you seen recently especially for sale?? That's what makes this cue rare, not many around.
John

That's a beauty for sure

Is it only a collectable or do you play with it aswell?

I've taken it out and played with it a couple of times. All the people I know think I'm nuts hitting with it. It was built to play with and was probably the finest American built cue of its time. Go figure. Best butterflies and points I've seen considering its age.

That cue is soooo beautiful and it takes you back to another time in pool. I've never held one but I bet it's sweet.

Very Very Nice Cue!

Gorgeous cue John!

Congrats to you and -R- on an excellent restoration of a SWEET Brunswick cue

I always woundered????

If some master wood worker in France was making them for Brunswick and died taking his construction methods with him.
I don't think the 360's were made in America. I know some cue makers that feel the same way. If only for the fact that production never was resumed after they were all sold. And if they could not figure out how the build more of them something must have happened to the origional builder!
Holy urban legend stick!
That is one hot rod!
Congrats Mr John! I am sure the year wait was worth it.:D
Nick :)

360s are beautiful cues and Jerry sure brought out the best in yours.

Brunswick made all of their cues as one piece and cut and jointed them when they need two piece cues of the same model. The one piece version of the 360 was the model 36 and I believe that is what you have and someone other than Brunswick converted it to two piece.

Brunswick did not cut them in half as yours is but cut above the second set of prongs/butterflys and the shaft is shorter than the butt, they did this so they didn't cut through the prongs but above them. Also the 360s I have seen have the joint pin in the shaft and not quite as refined as the brass pin in yours which is in the butt.

Dick,

Thank you for the information. I totally agree with your comments. My other old Brunswick 36? or 360? cue has the short shaft cut as you talk about. It has to be refinished, and needs the joint replaced, so I think Mr. Jerry -R- and I are going to make it more modern, however retaining the full splicing and beautiful butterflies. The wood is so rich and full of aged patina. I would love to convert it and make it my daily player. Then again, there aren't many of these cues around.

John
