Brunswick vs Diamond

Hi everyone i am sure this is probably a matter of personal preference in feel, but as an average player apa level 7 and am going to be starting to play in some joss and predator events in NY, what would be the better home table, a brunswick gold crown or a diamond professional or PRO AM table. I have heard mixed reports on both but after watching a lot of the accu stats dvds i have noticed the majority is played on diamonds. Any help would be huge.

Take your pick.

Any of those three would be a fine addition to your home and a true players table. My preference would be the Diamond Pro, 9' with pro cut pockets and matching light. How they play will ultimately depend on the competency of the table mechanic. Choose wisely.

I agree and the Diamond table will look very nice in your house.

IMO, a Shimmed Brunswick will play tougher than a pro cut Diamond with the same mouth dimensions... The Brunswick will reject MANY more balls than the Diamond due to the cut of the pocket. The deep shelf may even things out a bit more.

GCs look ALOT better than the Diamond tables... They just do...

You will be happy with any of them but if you want a tough table, investigate pocket generousity between the two. I think you will find that well hit balls will drop on the Diamond where the GC will spit em out. Either a tight table that plays true or a tight table that plays tough... Which one will improve your game more?

Hey Ghost Diamond all the way!!! And, due to drastic situations at home I may have to sell mine. Starting over is hard. If interested send me a PM.

They are both good tables. More tournaments are being played on Diamonds it seems. But a Gold Crown is still a great table. You can get a better deal on a used Gold Crown than a new Diamond. Used Diamonds are very hard to find and still expensive.

That is a matter of opinion, and I disagree completely. IMO Diamonds look much better.

I prefer the Diamond Pro w/pro cut pockets. I've had mine for almost 7 years and have never looked back. Completely satisfied. The more I see tables set up by realkingcobra the closer I"m getting to putting my name on his list for recovering. My table just doesn't look like the ones he does. The facings don't fit the cushion's like his and the pockets are not quite as tight.

I like the look and play of the Gold Crowns over the Diamonds, but that is strictly my personal opinion. I enjoy playing on the Diamonds as well, and would be happy to have either in my home. You simply cannot go wrong with either's commercial line, and what ever you can get a deal on is what I would do. Just make sure the setup is good. I own a GCIV, and the only other brand I would even consider owning is the Diamond. When I remodel my house I am thinking of putting a Diamond next to my Gold Crown. That would truly be the best of both worlds!:D

Can I visit when that happens??:D

I can't believe people even debate this anymore

if you can afford a new pro am then buy it, Brunswick has gone so far downhill, they're the "Bose" of the billiards world selling on name only

used is a different story and a good deal is a good deal regardless, but new? Diamond all the way, GC II's and III's are good if you have a top notch table mechanic in your area

the only competition imo is Gabriels, even Diamond knows that, hence their partnership

Actually, the frame on the GC is alot more substantial, and is hardwood, unlike the Diamond. Having said that, and playing for a living myself, it is darn near a coin toss. I think that the Brunswick needs shims to play tough enough to do any good, plus the price point on the diamond is lower, so I would give the Diamond a slight edge for home use(this coming from someone who used to sell Brunswicks for a living, lol.-Matt

Used Diamonds

I have several slightly used Diamonds.

I know you have one already Jay.;) :D

I just had a pool hall in League City,TX install 8 Diamond Professionals and put them next to some Brunswicks. Not even in the same category. Look more solid and play true.

three words, ONE PIECE SLATE

end of thread

Actually you can get a Diamond Professional in 3 piece or 1 piece slate!

The Pro-Am has always been 1 piece, until recently when Glenn aka. RealKingCobra put a 3 piece slate on a Pro-Am to get it in a tight space. Glenn is insane!:D

Yea but that was a custom job. I don't think its an option unless you hire him to find you the table since Diamond build the tables and ships em prebuilt to you.

hard choice.....imo

Both are great tables... edit---------->never mind...
