Chad Pollman interviews Buddy for 30 minutes. He talks about his history, the difference between the gambling style of the players of today and of when he started, some road stories and much more.

My favorite part is when Chad asks him about Keith McCready's famous t-shirt that said "The World has the 8". His response is priceless.

There is an update on the Olathe event, but this one is all about Buddy. As it should be.

Chad and I want to thank Buddy for taking the time to talk us we really appreciate it. It is great to hear one of my favorite players of all time, in his own voice, tell some great stories and pass on some knowledge.

Young players take note. Listen to this man and what he says about etiquitte and conduct (Mcwhorter you listening? :D).

Thank you Buddy.

For the first time in a very long time, I am excited about pool, thanks to the TheActionReport.com. The interview with Buddy Hall is absolutely priceless, and it is this type of media that, IMHO, has been missing in recent times. Of course, The National Billiard News, Pool and Billiard Magazine, Billiards Digest, and other print media all work hard at producing a product which allows pool to shine in a good light, but these interviews and real-time action coverage by TheActionReport.com are innovative and awesome, to say the least.

Sir Timothy Berners-Lee has been labeled as the Inventor of the Internet. Though he could have become a billionaire many times over with this technology at its inception, it was his desire to make the Internet available to everyone around the world for free, so that information could be disseminated with only a click of the mouse. With no funding and completely self-made, TheActionReport.com is doing the same thing for pool.

I loved hearing the expression at the begining of the interview with Buddy, "in the box." The difference of two-shot/push-out compared to today's 9-ball rules, yesterday's players with personalities like Luther Lassiter as well as the regional differences in action environments are Buddy insights that I enjoyed listening to and can appreciate.

The upcoming Olathe 10-ball bar box tournament is exactly like Buddy said. It won't be a breaking contest, like today's 9-ball luck competitions. Rather, the best player will win based on shooting skills, and I will be pulling for Buddy Hall to win the whole shebang. :)

Bravo to TheActionReport.com. To think that you guys are doing this out of pocket in an effort to bring the best that there is about pool to those of us pool enthusiasts around the world is a noble gesture and very much appreciated by this reader. I can't wait for this week's coverage in Olathe. It keeps getting better and better with TheActionReport.com, and, folks, believe it or not, I think the BEST is yet to come. THANK YOU!

Great interview Chad & Justin! I could sit and listen to Buddy for hours. One of the questions that I really would like to know is about his book Rags to Rifleman. It seems like there is A LOT of interest in the pool world to read this book, but there isn't anywhere to really get it.

Can you ask him if he has any plans to another publication of it or if there is a good way to go about getting it without spending a fortune?

Thanks guys.

sure will

If Buddy still has the rights to the book he can publish it himself. It's so easy and cheap to self publish now...and anyone with a computer can do it...or you can have a friend do it for you if your not good with computers. My guess is that he sold the rights years ago or he has a few hundred copies stashed away and put a few up for sale every month for $90 a pop:D Johnnyt

I'm sitting here in front of my computer listening to the podcast with Buddy Hall and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. Buddy is not only a great champion, great story teller but a pool historian of great proportions (no pun intended). Buddy is probably my favorite pool player of all time. I have had the pleasure of competing against him and best of all I have had the chance to watch him many times playing some of his best pool and have learned so much from him and with this podcast, I have continued to learn.

Chad did a TERRIFIC JOB of interviewing Buddy. You guys are GREAT!

Thanks again.

Thank you for the kind words. Buddy is a favorite of mine as well. He is a true icon in American pool. I can't wait to see what we can put together on video in Olathe.

Just got figure out how to turn this thing on......

Buddy's interview

Please keep up the good work. I really enjoyed listening to Buddy in the interview and I think it gives fans a look at his personal side not just seeing him pocket balls on TV or in a video.

I was wondering if there will be ample seating for spectators?
If there is not going to be a lot of seating for spectators it would be a miserable trip just to watch someone else play. If I'm playing I don't mind standing on my feet for a few hours if necessary but not playing is another matter.

If opportunity presents itself I may try to fly in Friday or Saturday morning to see some of the play. Normally I wouldn't think of spending money to watch someone else play but this tournament is kind of special, I think and worth seeing.

I haven't even checked with any of the locals as to where I should stay and there are lots of other factors like getting stand-by tickets on flights that aren't already overbooked. Also, I haven't checked with the boss. :)
Normally she is pretty agreeable about such things as long as I don't break the bank.

So if any locals (or anyone else) have good info on lodging and spectator seating, please let me know.

Thanks,
Joey A

I was told Dan is bringing in bleachers so there will be plenty of seating. I am sure some of the people who are more familiar with the layout can weigh in.

Hope you can make it, if you do say hi to the 2 giants with the cameras.

Initial response from my ticket man is that he is out of stand by tickets for the moment and he insinuated that right now there is a lot of overbooking which means stand-by will quite frequently mean stand-by. :D

I might check a little further later on. We'll see but if I do show up I'll be sure and say hello to the two larger than life guys with cameras.

Thanks,

Johnny, I believe Bob Henning owns the publishing rights. He wrote "The Advanced Pro Book"(and others), and he owns BeBob Publishing.

As I recall, he told me last summer in Louisville that he'd have to sell 5000 copies to make it worthwhile to re-work the book, and then publish it.

Then he should give the rights back to Buddy and let him self publish it. Johnnyt

Dan has bleachers, always has at all the events hes put on at his place.the bar area is raised so on the outer edge you can look out over a section of bar tables and big table as well.seating should not be a problem at this event, there are motels/hotels within 5 min of shooters.check flyer at actionreport.com.if your planing on flying in maybe one of us locals can pick you up from airport and get you there.this should be a great one.Dan is a great person, and has over the last 15 years brought in the best pool players from all over the world.Dan Tull put pool back on the map in Kansas Thank You very much.hope to see you all there.and a big thank you to ACTIONREPORT.COM keep up the good work.the frist drink is on me.

Gulfportdoc, I just wanted to let you know that Happy Camp has burned down, and all 1,800-plus residents have evacuated. My brother lives on the other side of the Klamath River on Elk Creek Road, and he hasn't left as of the time of this writing yet. The river is keeping the fire away from his humble abode, but he may have to pack up his guitar and personal belongings with 10-minutes notice and leave when and if a sheriff comes. This is horrible, and I am sickened by it. According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, this is California's number-one priority right now, but, of course, NOT ONE MENTION of it on the national news. Here's the Happy Camp link: http://www.happycampnews.com/

Back to the thread on the seating issue, if they have sold out, this must be going to be a very well-attended event. I like that when there's a good crowd. However, speaking as an elder now, there is no way I could stand on my feet all day long watching pool. Been there and done that, and my swollen feet cannot take it anymore. There should be accommodations made for people over 50 for seating, but sometimes, I guess, folks forget that older people cannot stand all day long very easily. JMHO, FWIW!

Two more days for Olathe, beginning with the one-pocket event, and then we're all in for a treat! I can't wait! :D
