Realized after deep inspection of the cue a warped shaft, a slightly warped shaft, a cracked ferrule...a lot of players damage not revealed in many phone conversations and texts before the transaction....he promised a partial refund then never sent it!

AND I LOST AGAINST PAYPAL even with a Credit Card...buyers beware in 2011

Hate to hear about your ordeal, Pauly.....would like to hear some details on this if you get a chance.

Absence of escrow, it's also best for buyers to deal with reputable sellers that you know you can trust.

Buyer beware

Yeah my brother bought 5 gross of chalk from a guy. The seller didn't ship it. He got what he paid for the chalk back but Paypal said he was stuck for the shipping ($70) that made no scents to me since it was never shipped. It seems like they always side with the seller

Sorry to hear about your deal. I could recommend using google checkout. After getting burned myself a few times by paypal I made the switch and its been great.

Sorry to hear about this. What goes around comes around.
He'll get his.

it's a heartbreaker. We sellers pal ALL the fees and get none of the protection. Save a record and move on.

I got beat for $850 a few years ago. Still mad.

Paypal 30 day scam

A word of caution; if the seller delays shipping over 30 days for whatever reason and then does not ship the product at all. You are out of luck. It just happen to me on a World cup T shirt..no big loss $20 but it could be bad if it was a cue.

Paypal and credit cards

What I have always done is use a credit card through paypal.
If I have funds in my paypal account, I withdraw them first .
If paypal gives me shit, I just go to my credit card company and they reverse
the charges back on paypal. Including my shipping costs since that was charged as well. Their loss not mine...
It has always worked for me in the past...
Just food for thought....

Did you dispute the charge from Paypal with your credit card provider (not PayPal)?

As paypal goes, it's owned by ebay. The only thing they are interested in is the profits from transactions. As to doing what is right by either the buyer or the seller, that's so far down the list in their concern's that you, me or anyone for that matter don't exist to them. Paypal used to be a reputable corporation, but since selling out to ebay it has taken a far more turn to the worse then western union. I will say this though, the person that thinks he or she can take me for even a dime will have a world of hurt brought upon them, I'll spend millions to track them down.

Hope you're right. I just got burned for $310 for a cue. Never heard from this person after he got the money. No phone calls, no e-mails,no pms.and no cue.And he is a long time AZer with over 6,000 post.

paulybatz,

I actually know Sean Finney...although I haven't seen him in quite some time. I do have his number, so maybe I can try contacting him for you. PM me with the information and I'll see what I can do. No guarantee, but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the warning Pauly.
It get's expensive to buy a new shaft and have the cue refinished.
Amazing that the cue was so badly misrepresented after all of that.
IMO the seller should either give you a full refund, or credit you at least $200 of the refinish and replacement shaft cost.

I am in the market for a new cue. I also want to use an escrow service. Where can I find out how this works and what the fees are?
Thanks.
